Except (as above) what about the unnecessary air miles being accumulated? That's far more of a story for me than a foreign lady who married well leaving her child abroad. As I understand it, some members of the Royal Family are imploring all of us plebs to stay at home and live in caves in the dark. Obviously doesn't apply universally.

Oh wow mother returns to their child. What a shocker.
However I suspect the baby was left there so she could hot foot it back when the stuff hit the fan.
When I first heard about this I didn’t realise they hadn’t consulted the queen or other royals or people about what they were going to do.
Having now heard they didn’t consult I think they did the whole thing because they were concerned what they queen and the rest would say. To do something of this magnitude without at least prior warning family, to me shows a chasm between them.
I suspect the first flush of being a royal has worn off and her prior life has been calling. Harry has had, via his mother’s influence, a yearning for a normality he has never had. Will he be able to cope in ‘normal’ land in the same way she couldn’t cope with royal land? Only time will tell.
But I am curious as to how this financially independent works. No public funds, no queens purse. Earn what you spend and save what you don’t. He has a tidy sum from bequeaths and investments etc etc but he has a lifestyle that needs paying for. Added to that, regardless of how ‘normal’ they want to be (leave the title and privilege when you leave sonny boy) they will still be royal and targets. Who is going to pay their security bill?
Having said all that. Whatever they do I hope for two things.
1. They find happiness and a life they want
2. They don’t embarrass the queen and the royal brand

The more I hear about this (and I've been trying to avoid it) I think they've gone down the route of ''better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission''
one thing which irked me in that infernal interview was when she talked about the media in Britain hounding them (or similar) and mentioning they don't have anything like that in America. Is she thick or not mean it the way it came out?
