Ruddy idiots. And they're letting the same folk sort it out ? Regardless whether it was the construction company or the council who are responsible, they all need the book slung at them, and someone competent taking over.
Its okay- it was an old wall, a nice new one will be okay. :-)

Yup! The Shambles is in York (don't even try to go there in the 2 weeks before Christmas - just believe me). Apart from that - why was there no-one i/c to protect a heritage site? If we so much as dig a hole anywhere around our 11th C. church we have to have an accredited archaeologist/preservation expert on site. I would question the probity of the contract, personally.

The planning office strongly denied that it was all due to allowing cowboy builders to work close to a National Monument.
The original wall was Roman, but most of it was rebuilt in the nineteenth century.
Well that part if the wall has been roman right down the slope.
