As he hasn’t got the balls to stand up to his wife, The Queen has done what she can to curb Meghan’s Meg-lomania. What do you reckon?

It is entirely possible (likely/certain ?) that what they are now embarking on has had a long gestation time, quite possibly since before they met. He, in addition to valuing her comfort and happiness, is undoubtedly well aware of the sensitivity of all this and will have wanted to go about the change on the basis of as little as possible, as quietly as possible. If nothing else, he should be admired for his courage because he will have known the broo-ha-ha it would cause.
Separately but not, I notice how a certain faction chooses to vilify the female. Everything I have come across (not having scoured the lot) provides no proof whatever that she instigated anything rather than (enthusiastically ?) went along with an already fully fledged idea. Isn't all the titter plain and simple misogyne with racism to crown it ?

danny, If he was that fed up with his life before marriage perhaps marriage would have been an ideal opportunity to change it .... but he didn't. He was happy to have the magnificent wedding and all that went with it, so I'm not convinced he wanted 'out' before his marriage. I think he would dearly have loved her to become a major player on the 'team'. I'm not having a 'pop' at Meghan in particular - just saying it as I see it - just as you're saying it as you see it.
They are never going to win, damned if they stay, damned if they go, so they might as well do as they wish.
Personally, although I do understand the hatred of the vitriol aimed at the Duchess, why can they simply not read the papers, or watch the news?
They must have staff who could cut all references to them out of newspapers before the couple received, them, and could edit tv news before they watched it?
If something written may upset you, rotate your head forty-five degrees, and it's not there any more.
How hard can that be?

Lots of "I" this and "I" that in Harry's speech. Certainly gives me plenty of reason to doubt this decision is all Meghan's doing. But, what do I know. I'm not privy to their every thought and deed as some of you appear to be. I personally wish them well in their 'new' lives. Perhaps they could set a template for future minor Royal couples. Who knows?
I haven’t been aware of Megan being hounded, just a natural curiosity about her. And the less the two of them allowed us all to know..the christening, godparents, etc...the more curious everyone became.
I think the same an Naomi, Harry hoped and thought Megan would become absorbed into the royal family and enjoy it.
I also think Megan thought it would be like being major Hollywood royalty and was surprised how different proper royalty is from the tinsel town version.
I truly hope it works out for them, especially for Harry’s sake, but I have my doubts.

Of course I didn't, Naomi. But there is a lot more "I" than there is "We". As one of the World's most eligible batchelors, Harry could have chosen any of the globe's beauties to be his wife. Let's face it, he dated one or two stunners when he was 'playing the field. Perhaps none of them shared his vision of the future? Or maybe they all just wanted to be princesses. We'll never know.
Harry opens his speech with, "So, I want you to hear the truth from me, as much as I can share...." and goes on to say, "The decision I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges." That would indicate to me that it was he who initiated the move and that he was far from happy long before he met Meghan.

Meanwhile;
'Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage is predicted to end in five years.
Bookmakers Paddy Power revealed that the odds for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to get a divorce in 2025 are at 3/1. The couple’s divorce is also considered to be more likely than Serena Williams winning Wimbledon.
The odds of the couple’s marriage ending are also much higher compared to the possibility of them rejoining the royal family.'
Worth a punt, Jack?

Wow, Naomi. There's listening to what is said and there's reading between the lines. Then there's doing both and making your own mind up. Like everything else in life, it's how we interpret what info we are given that shapes our opinions. Obviously you and I have different interpretations. And neither of us will ever know which one is correct:-)
