Could have fooled me. More rough sleepers in Stoke than any other time that I could remember.
Some dying too during winter!

I know a guy that volunteers at one of our cities homeless shelters. They provide food, a hot meal once a week and a shower etc.
He has now found himself in a homeless/night shelter.
You couldnt make this sh** up if you tried.

They sit outside supermarkets and restaurants. I don't know if they are genuine or not but it's also not fair sending us on a guilt trip.

I will give money to the homeless and I will cook for them (when asked) the team that help (earth angels) go out late at night so any career beggars would have been long gone

They do an amazing job. They don't ask for money, just help with material things. Socks, hats, sleeping bags, babywipes etc etc...their time is free.

These groups are Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and atheists....all working together to help.

Ive got be honest,
It wasnt until I started work (voluntary and then paid) for our local foodbank that I really started to understand the scale of poverty that people live with

I was aware of extreme poverty but not homelessness. I don't go into town much but when I did the last time...I was shocked.

I had my doubts about who was dreaming this up, then to see that Boris Johnson is making this claim....
The Tories might *hope* to eliminate rough sleeping by 2024...it will never happen. They need a generation to turn around the patterns in society and families that contribute to rough sleeping.

Ummm, I know that in Stoke (at least) that there are muslim food centrers for local people. I know that there are Hare Krishna centers in London as well that give out free food to the homeless.

Theland, back in 1998, I found myself homeless. No home, no income, no hope. I was sleeping on car parks etc.
Too bloody right I stole. From Tesco etc (never from an individual).
I needed to eat.

But dont tare everyone with the same brush. Try giving a blanket to someone in winter who is sheltering in a doorway and see what they say...
