Looks like the flat pack is collapsing, first closure of a UK branch. Have you ever purchased from them?

cleverly designed layout to make you spend more money.
IKEA gets so much traffic, and they sell big items. The stores lay out isn't to make more money, but to help with flow of traffic.
It’s a secret I already knew Vulcan but thanks anyway :)
My apologies for the mini lecture vagus, I didn't realise you knew. :o)
We have an Ikea Kitchen bought 10 years ago for a fraction of a luxury brand. We've just replaced the doors mainly to modernise the 'Look' and now have a brand new kitchen for around £450. I've replaced my stand alone cooker for an IKEA hob and built in oven -the oven cost £199 and I can honestly say its the best oven I've cooked with and I've have expensive ones. I don't pay extra money for snob value -if something does the job then rock on.
Apology not necessary Vulcan. Maybe a few more people will now use the ‘secret’ door ;o)
No, what do they sell?
'Tat' apparently, or reasonably priced household goods and furniture that you can order on line or pick up in their vast warehouse like stores -they do have a website...……..
If it fell apart quickly, ymb, maybe you had a screw loose.
I love their designs their practicality and space saving ideas. I have quite a few Ikea things - rugs tables glassware and two very attractive and comfortable sofas bought 30 years ago.
Never been in one.
it wont collapse it worldwide. most likely that one store
//It's like coming through security at Gatwick for departures. You are obliged to take a meandering course through duty free. Like it or not.//

//They are labyrinthine messes which, one in, you cannot get out of without visiting the entire store on a pre-ordained route.//

Ermm - that's deliberate .
If you are 'forced ' to walk through the various departments , then it's more than likely that something else ( other than what you went in for ) will catch your eye ; which you will buy , if not then , perhaps later .

It's like supermarkets moving stuff around on shelves to different locations ; because after a while shoppers are used to where to go directly to get what they want ; so they are in and out quickly .

Move the stuff around and the shopper is 'forced ' to go searching for what they came in for ; and in so doing they are noticing other items , some of which they will purchasing as well

Rarely saw anything I much liked there. Mind you I don't tend to visit. Did once; occassionally see ads or the like.
"Never been in one."

You would hate it, ToraToraTora. Everything that brexit isn't! Cheap Swedish tat. No, not like the quality that our homeland would produce. ;-)
Ikea is good for glasses, plates, kitchen utensils, towels, linen, cushions.

It's also good for cheapish but attractive MDF; chest of drawers, wardrobes, desks etc...

They also sell expensive and nice furnishings such as rugs.
Exactly. Plain & functional, with no soul.
"Swedish minimalism".
I thought that it was just me getting confused about exiting the place. My daughter has purchased several furniture items from them, not impressed. Personally I would not buy much from them.
I've never been to one of their stores.
What a lot of people don't realise, is that they have an online catalogue.

Delivery or pick-up. Possibly that has contributed to the Coventry store closing.
