Just watched Boris and the children at the play group on BBC News

Boris. "Hello puppets."
Children. "Hello party papa"

Boris. "Do we all know how many new policemen we are going to have?"
Children. "Twenty thousand. Giggle, giggle"

Boris. "Do we all know how many new hospitals we are going to build?"
Children. "Forty. Giggle, giggle."

Boris. "How many big shiny new buses are we going to have in the country?"
Children. "Loads and loads and loads." Giggle, giggle"

At that point I lost the will to live and turned the tv off!

Javid was maneuvered into a position where he had to jump, or be pushed.
"You may be right about the budget but with 5 years to go, why would there be a need to 'splurge'?"

Distraction.
A subject that should be clear to many on this Forum.
There’s been talk at least bringing a lot more of the services into public ownership. I can’t remember the details.
It would be popular
You may be right. A transparent attempt to sway his neigh-sayers.

Or the ex cabinet as they're now known ;-)
Javid could have stayed.
And they could hardly then sack him
Doesn’t look good when your chancellor flounces.
Maybe they just didn’t care.
I truly don't think Boris does care. Big majority, five years to go.....meh.
Quiz time:
Who was the last chancellor never to deliver a budget?
Brown?
I see I'm wrong.
Is that a joke?

:-)
Unfortunately not. My memory isn't what it was ;-)
I certainly think Cummings wouldn’t probably care. Johnson likes to be liked
Chancellor Randolph Churchill , he ignored people too.
Iain Macleod in 1970. He tragically died hours after being appointed

Before that Randolph Churchill in 1890
'Johnson likes to be liked'

I think that's a facade. He's a tough, calculating cookie beneath the surface.
Randolph Churchill was certainly not popular
The story goes he had a benign tumour removed and someone commented that it was they’d taken out the only non malignant part of him.
Diddlydo 14.14 once again Diddly you are SPOT ON .
14.27, I have to agree with you , it is a childish thread , it's about the Conservative leader , what else would you expect from a child.
"The story goes he had a benign tumour removed and someone commented that it was they’d taken out the only non malignant part of him."

That's brilliant.

I'd love to have the wherewithal to be able to be as quick-witted as that.
