Oh, I imagine this comes on the heels of the assault charge?

Very sad.
Question Author
Yes, I imagine so. Very sad.

Just seen it flash up on my phone. What an awful shame...
Somewhat inevitable I’m afraid.
Given the charges and fall from grace and the media and social media hunting of her.
MartinMillar - // Somewhat inevitable I’m afraid. //

There is nothing 'inevitable' about the death of a forty-year-old woman, that's a dreadful thing to say.
Question Author
It shouldn't be inevitable though. No single person should be under that much scrutiny and hounded by the press they feel they should take their own life.
I know exactly what MartinMillar means, andy.
Caroline's recent life had turned into a bit of a car-crash and I, too, felt that there was going to be some sort of 'crisis'; either she'd be in re-hab getting the help she obviously needed....or she'd be found dead, at her own hand.

That is not to revel or glory in the detail, just that this is the way these things often end...
No it shouldn’t have been inevitable but it was unfortunately.
Sorry you find my opinion dreadful.
I agree with you jth. It’s so, so sad that she couldn’t face what was to come. She was so much in the public eye and I’m afraid being “hounded” although I wouldn’t put it quite like that, was the price of the fame that she wanted.

You would have to know her what was going on in her head to make that statement. I doubt you did?

Lots of “celebrities” want the press attention when things are going well but not when there’s trouble. They can’t have it both ways. If it’s true about suicide, as it probably is, it was her choice.
Question Author
Martin - I don't think you're wrong at all. It just shouldn't be that way. It should not be the price of fame.

It's not in the publics interest to know what goes on in peoples personal lives.
How sad that she thought this was her best option. RIP.
Barmaid - // How sad that she thought this was her best option. RIP. //

I know that when it comes to the point of suicide, it's not a matter of options any more, it's simply a matter of not feeling like this for another minute.
AH whilst my phraseology was clumsy, I don't think you can say what is someone's head.

It's still v sad.
The death of anyone by suicide is never 'inevitable'.
I was a Samaritan volunteer for three years, if I had taken that attitude, I would not have been much use to the hundreds of people I dealt with.

It's never over until it's over, and it is NEVER inevitable.

Never.
I stand by my use of the word inevitable.
Her life was a public car crash.
Never heard of her, no idea before who she was, but she looked pretty, shame.
I've moved this thread into the category "News".
ummmm - // It's not in the publics interest to know what goes on in peoples personal lives. //

It's not, but sadly what sells newspapers is less what is 'in the public interest', more, what 'interests the public'.
