I think an earlier thread was pulled, but, sadly, her death has been confirmed:

RIP ... enjoyed watching her on Strictly back in 2014.

A victim of the gutter press and social media.

Very sad, but not wholly unexpected. I hope she's at peace npw., but I'm sure the press will continue to dig up her private life now.
“ Caroline Flack's management is now blaming the CPS.“

I would have thought that if her boyfriend withdrew the charges then, that would be it. Why did the CPS carry on with the case?

My late husband, during his drinking days, was abusive to me and my daughter and we called the police. He spent the night in the cells. I was interviewed the next day and said I didn’t want to press charges.

End of story. I’m not famous but I didn’t want it to go any further, just like Caroline’s boyfriend. Why did they press ahead with the charges?
It isn't as easy as it was for alleged victims to withdraw allegations any more.
If he made a statement, then the CPS will more often than not proceed even without the support of the complainant since its very easy for domestic violence victims to be put under pressure to withdraw.
Someone I know was injured by her partner. She didn’t want to go ahead with a prosecution but was told that the police and CPS decide whether to charge the individual rather than the victim.

Thankfully the days of accepting that spouse beating is just one of things are long gone. Welcome to 2020
Yes, but I think in my situation I would have been appalled if my late husband had been prosecuted. I knew him and knew that it was the drink that made him like that.

What good would it have done to me or my family if the COS had proceeded?
This was in 2010, Roy.
i did know the name but couldn't remember from where
terrible thing to happen, and sad for her family..
If somebody says they do not want to press charges, then how do the police know if the victim has been coerced into this?
I think the slow justice system puts too much pressure on the mental health of everybody concerned.
I saw this on 'breaking news' last night when something else was being shown and honestly thought it was a mistake, I just couldn't take it in. I can only guess what was going through her mind, but to take her life when she had a loving family and the man involved was going to stand by her, seems so wrong. Poor girl. I actually cried.
I don't understand this.. the boyfriend does not want to press charges.i thought that meant no charges would be brought on the female.case dropped.. Am I missing something ?
Yes. That's not how it works. Barmaid explained it earlier
I feel for her loved ones but she was charged with assaulting her partner as he slept. If it was the other way round you can bet no one would be talking about his mental health.
He can surmise that is how we would have responded if it were the other way round BigT, but you can't know that.
Clearly, it is just as wrong, whether a woman commits violence, or a man, or a child- the behaviour is the same, but the person isn't. In this country, for some reason, we don't worry about intention, just about consequences. And so, it would be seen as more serious for a man to attack a woman, as the consequences are likely to be far more serious.
He has since denied that she attacked him while he was asleep, so... who knows what really happened?
