I (along with a lot of others) agree with APG. There are some people(not many) who have problems with their gender. To explain a bit, my very dear God-daughter has had a lot of problems and last year finally decided that she was mentally and emotionally male. S/he is now 30 and is of an age to decide, so I am happy to accept my equally dear God-son. He is also of the...

The NHS should immediately stop all such treatment.

He/she will, of course, get thousands of pound compo at the taxpayers expense. Merry England.
They’ll be opened if she wins.
Will obviously win.
//The NHS should immediately stop all such treatment.//

Then those desiring it will take court action to protect their "Yuman Rites" (to have their tackle lopped off).
Another cretin who needs ignoring.

That crossed my mind, zacs. But if she doesn't win, the next one will or the one after that. Anyway, you try writing a headline that covers all contingencies.
I’d probably have written ‘are the floodgates about to be opened if this case wins?’
odd. the basis of the claim is diametrically opposed to the transgender policy of practically every children's institution (eg schools), which is to recognise and encourage those who wish to re-identify.
If they put me in charge of the NHS I would immediately stop funding for anything except emergency medical help, necessary surgery, and genuine illness. This was what the NHS was started for. Not for changing peoples sexual identity, not for giving them babies and certainly not for making fat people thin!
^^^I couldn’t agree more if I tried.
the NHS should not be doing this unnecessary treatment anyway, if they want it pay privately. The NHS is meant to be for treatment people actually need.
APG/Deskdiary, me too.
Funny responses to this.

If you are against the whole thing (i.e. early age gender reassignment) then you would want this person to win this landmark case as it will mean less gender reassignment at an early age as policy will be changed to reflect the legal ruling.

If this person doesn't win it will mean things can continue as they are.

Very good point, archi. She could actually increase the suffering of many young people if she wins. I’m pretty sure the case for the defence will stress this.

Who said they didn't want her to win?
Floodgates is a term used to convey a negative opinion of something.

If I'd known the head pedant was going to be on the thread I'd have titled it, with hindsight, 'The Chickens Are Coming Home To Roost'.
Spicey, it’s a good thread ;0)
I see we’ve started with the personal insults. Standard.
BTW, don’t feel too bad. I’d got hold of the wrong end of the stick as well, until archi came along.
