I keep telling you, Tora, no more of that French muck. You can get very reasonable New World fizz. I can thoroughly recommend "Wolf Blass" Sparkling Pinot Noir. From our Australian friends, you can get it for about a tenner a bottle and that includes the innocuous EU import tariff (imposed to protect EU winegrowers from "unfair" competition) and transport from the Antipodes. We need to show the EU rump that we don't need their over-priced produce.

Indeed. And that's why, coupled with my devout antipathy towards local government of any kind, I don't usually bother :-)

Labour’s response is a 5 month long leadership beauty contest with three ugly candidates. They have been presented with plenty of own goals by the Government - and yet their Opposition has been woefully poor.

Indeed they do. There are some nice ones around. Even Wetherspoons does a very nice offering. The trouble is they are twice the price of similar NW stuff. I am not a tightwad and by no means hard up, but our winegrowers will have to compete a little more closely on price to get my custom.
