What’S The ***g Point Of The Grenfell Inquiry ?

...asked a member of the public after the inquiry restarted on Monday.

They have a point. Everyone giving evidence is immune from any prosecution resulting from the evidence they give.
Already we have had such gems as
- The architects got the job because they were working nearby.
- The job didn’t go out to tender they were just given the work.
- A low estimate was put in to avoid a tendering process.
- The low estimate meant costs had to be cut and inferior materials chosen.
- The Chief architect did know the building Regs - he had never bothered to read them.

This damning evidence will be noted, but will not result in a prosecution.
So what is the ***ing point ?

that is the point - and what the parents and relations said they wanted ot have
of course now they may wish to have retribution and those responsible swing in the wind and die slowly - - - BUT

you cannot compel a witness to testify against himself ( the Brit version of the 5th but different sort of) and so if you say they are going to prosecute then the witness can refuse to appear

which I have seen done - in a GMC case - Mr X said he was going to take the 5th and I said to the parent of teh accuse young doctor - "she is off the hook your daughter that is!"
and she said no we have been told the charade continues
