No. We live down a cul de sac in a dead end village. My NHS wife will be with me so it would seem a bit daft to go to the door and clap.

Food shop workers should be getting more recognition (which seems to be zero) for their efforts. I wouldn't like to be sat at a till in Asda atm.

Many will want to do it- people want to show their gratitude and NHS workers generally will get a small boost from it.
You could organise something similar in your supermarket, roy- sounds a good idea

No. This sort of thing just seems daft to me. The NHS workers must know we're grateful for their efforts. Were I one I'd not want it anyway.

We live in a pedestrianised street which is very quiet at the best of times so I think I’d feel a bit daft going to the front door and clapping to the silence of the night, I might , like others, see if someone else is doing it and join in

I'm not a virtue signaller. If people want to show their appreciation for the NHS they can donate to a COVID charity, print screen their payment then use that to virtue signal.

Of course we all appreciate the NHS. Don't need to clap about it, it will no nothing!

It does seem rather odd. I've seen it happening in France and Spain (on the news) with people on balconies, where I assumed the recipients, or many of them, could see it.
The Spanish police have been serenading people stuck in their homes, which was quite nice ...

No mention of going outside TD, so I see no issue unless your doorstep/balcony(?) is within 2m of next door's doorstep/balcony

We are free to join in or ignore it or express gratitude in any other way. It's worked well in Italy but they have more flats and balconies close to hospitals/main roads.
I think it will happen on a small scale tonight and then die out

I think that's the idea - that NHS staff see it on the news.

TD, you won't stand in your own front garden, nowhere near your neighbours, and yet you go to the supermarket and mix in close proximity with all and sundry to get their shopping. Hmmmm ....

No... although I do appreciate everyone still working. My daughters are still looking after vulnerable people. In the local care home, one lady was sent home from hospital at 2am, with hypothermia and a foil blanket, due to a lack of beds. She was left to wait in the Covid unit for transport to collect her, despite having no symptoms. And the staff just have to continue as ever. Nobody wants a round of applause for doing their jobs. It just seems patronising.

I'll give them a clap here and now, and another for the postal workers, those working in the food industry and those getting them around on public transport. I wont bother joining in later as we're in the countryside and only the hedgehogs will hear us.
