Will You Be Taking Steps To Stop Supporting China?
80 Answers
It's a pretty evil State with people eating wild animals and a disatrous human rights record. Now, if reports are correct, China is making money from this disaster by buying up stocks in the West and selling masks to Ireland etc. One way or another this country is responsible for all this, we know they lied about the figures so what else? Already they have tried blaming everyone else but themselves.
Personally I shall now be very careful of buying anything made in that country from now on if I can help it.
And certainly BoJo needs to stop the Huawei deal.

> We must end all trade with this filthy race
What I'd really like to see from a "journalist" like IDS is some deeper insight into this:
> Remember how George Osborne made our relationship with China a major plank of UK Government policy? So determined were Ministers to increase trade that they were prepared to do whatever was necessary. Indeed, I am told that privately this was referred to as Project Kow-Tow – a word defined by the Collins dictionary as 'to be servile or obsequious'.
As a former Tory leader and Cabinet member he is incredibly well placed to give that insight, but instead he glosses over it and leads poor kevin into spewing his racist bile.
I won't be taking steps to stop supporting China as I haven't been supporting China in the first place, unlike IDS and his mates.

There have long been political reasons to reconsider our relationship with China. Unfortunately, economic reasons to keep it as is, or build even deeper ties, have taken precedence. Some aspects of their approach to Coronavirus deserve a lot of criticism -- there's still good reason to doubt their reporting of casualities, case numbers etc, not to mention the cover-up at the start.
We should be taking stern action against them for a host of reasons: Uighurs, Tibet, lack of democracy, Climate Change etc. At most, the virus ought to be added to the list. Maybe it'll be a straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back, but I don't think it's reason enough on its own. A lot of Chinese people have suffered or died too.

If this was my thread, best answer would go to 16.29. It is not so much what they eat, it is how these poor creatures are held and killed - the Yulin Dog Festival anyone?? They have little or no human rights and no animal rights at all. If it was possible, I would boycott them, but so many, many things are made by them and I reckon it would be very hard to do.
The Spanish flu was brought to Europe from the USA - it killed an estimated 50 million, and that will certainly include ancestors of every single poster on this thread and the whole of AB. Boycotting the USA would in many ways be a good deal easier (and the social inequality is pretty bad there too) so why not start with the USA and see how we get on. It's looking as if their failure to properly tackle the pandemic there may cause it to linger for months past the inevitable with the resulting agony for the USA population. If that boycott really works then we might turn our attention to China.
What Have we learned from this thread?
1. If a state is evil then viruses will originate there.
2. Eating a cow or pig is normal but eating a Pangolin Is weird.
3. Eating an animal gives humans viruses
4. China has a terrible human rights record.
5. We shouldn’t do business with China because of 4.
6. We should throw our TVs, computers, phones away because they are manufactured in China.
7. We should not accept Chinese investment in the UK.
And all that will make everything better.

Cows and pigs are not becoming extinct, pangolins are!! Well said royfromaus. ''
Get over yourself means people in glass houses should not throw stones.
The only reason pigs, cows, sheep, chickens are not becoming extinct is because they are bred in to existence just to be killed.
Fox hunting, fois gras, bull fighting... horse racing are all cruel to animals but I assume you think all of them are ok?

So if I said to you, you can have a child but when it is three months old we are going to slaughter it because... baby bacon tastes amazing. You would do it?
I would not breed a child just to know it's fate was to be 'humanely' slaughtered.
Horse racing is a human occupation, had we left horses alone I very much doubt they would be throwing themselves over hurdles just to break their necks.
