There are any number of possible combinations but I was thing in general terms. In your scenario, multiple co-morbidities might increase the risk of death but not outweigh

but does it follow ( or sequitur ) that there is a lower death rate

well.... depending on the criteria for admission which is reasonably - 1)got the disease, 2) needs respiratory support (*)
and is the same over Europe

then the death rate should be roughl similar in that age cohort

the italians let the virus into the old peoples homes and then ran away when they became infected

and so the proportion of those in hospital who go onto respiratory support should be the same and the death rate the same

I would say age wins every time - and that of course means that if the facilities are ltd then it is not a queue - but you select on criteria

and so it goes from - do we select
towards how we select

the fact is that ITU as you get older - the results get pretty awful. and from the past - yo can tabulate what proportion of 90 y old come out of ITU on a good day
if the answer is none then there is very little to argue about
eclude them even if there is a bed available

Corby that was the point of my comment. All medical staff should EVER do is make their decisions on who is most likely to benefit MEDICALLY from the intervention. The teenager migh be a serial killer, the 90 yo might be a medical genius.
