No sure what law she broke, but £811 for doing nowt seems excessive.

It’s really a lot more simple than people are making it out to be.

People?
Most people think it is very simple.
I was being diplomatic.
Haha the world has gone mad. Why are the trains running if no one can use them? Promise...last week I saw an intercity train, 8 carriages, pass through Llandudno Junction as I was queuing on Tesco car park for an hour without a single person on board except the driver. Every carriage was empty. It was about 30 feet from me and doing about 5mph.
Please don't cancel the trains.
They're still needed to get some key workers to and fro. :-)

Having said which, the usual Glasgow Central to Ayr is 6 carriages, it is now 7.
It's nowhere near simple. If you have one of the four examples of "essential" that the government gave, then fine, but if you've a different essential reason then you are at the mercy of those who challenge you. And they are not only happy to be wrong, but happy to be inconsistent too. This isn't acceptable in a decent society, and it certainly isn't simple unless you mean oversimplified and thus unclear.
She didn’t give any reason.
Exactly, Togo. I've mentioned before that I live not far from the main London - Worcester line and the trains are running. Who on earth is using these trains?
This article gives much more detail and makes things a lot clearer. Your headline is misleading and so is your question.

She broke 2 laws- one relating to ticket fraud, one relating to Covid. She could have got away with at most a £60 'on the spot' fine if she hadn't been so uncooperative.
Exactly, ff.
Anyone who indulges in criminality and/or is completely uncooperative in the current global catastrophe clearly has issues with authority and deserves to suffer the full weight of the law.
There's some sanctimonious gits around, isn't there? And gullible too. BTW, I don't believe Big Bonking Boris has got CV. It's all propaganda to rope you in. And he wants a break. Just like everyone else. I'm doing my bit, Chilldoubt. Just when my country needs me!

Is that meant to be serious?
Your attitude to this whole crisis has been pathetic from day one and you know it.
Your crass “don’t panic folks, I’m still going on holiday, nothing to worry about” posts display the sort of reckless attitude that has helped spread the virus and contributed to the disaster.
You really DO need to get back to your village, they’re missing you dreadfully......
Wise words from ChillDoubt. There are some on here who suffer from what is generally known as rectocranial inversion. I know two people who have died as a result of CV-19 and this individual got what she deserved. Given that the initial fine is £60, she must have committed other offences as well. I have family in Croatia and over there you get fined 8000 kuna (about £925). People over there do as they are told. It's a pity that the morons who get caught using mobile phones whilst driving aren't subjected to the same stringent measures. Keep up the good work ChillDoubt and thank you.
TBH if she hadn't been such a Bee Hatch and cooperated she'd have been let off.
CHRIS, according to the link, the prosecution was under the Coronavirus Act 2020 and not the Regulations.

Gromit - as the large response shows, this woman was not 'Fined £811 for being at a railway station ...' - but with that approach, you could get a job as a sub at the Daily Mail - they love misleading headlines like this!
yeah Gromit, send your CV off to the DM!
Gromit at the DM - bought a smile to my face. Harsh but true though with headlines like that.
Electrochem,

Thank you for the endorsement and kind sentiments, much appreciated.
How’s it going Chill?
Might make you smile but I always thing of you a chilli doubt, I only recently realised you’re chilldout, as in chilled out.. it then I am a bit ancient ;)
Going ok thanks Vagus.
I do like chilli though!

As posted elsewhere, I did my first stint on ITU yesterday(assisting colleagues there due to reduced capacity in Theatre and preparation for overspill into Recovery) which was quite sobering.
Day off today so I’ve recharged the batteries via a bike ride, back in tomorrow at 12.30 until 9.
