He’s done what you’d expect from any prime minister from any party given the situation, probably heavily advised by their team.

Yes, this is terrible and we want boris back. But let us not hold him up on our shoulders like he’s just won ww2 the UK have acted appallingly regarding COVID and no better or worse even than trump.
i wish him all the best wishes for his speedy recovery..
According to was I've read / heard on the news, it's a precautionary measure, but still worrying. Think his fiancé has got virus as well.
TD,//the UK have acted appallingly regarding COVID //
I suppose that you have all the answers then?
1. he will need arterial blood gas monitoring. This has to be done in ITU for safety reasons
2. If he deteriorates further it will be a controlled and safer incubation in good time
3. In my experience at any one time there will be a number of non ventilated patients on the unit.
4 And once you have been stabilised and converted to a tracheostomy if you are going to be vented a while then if possible you will be woken up or at least have your sedation lightened so you can breathe for yourself with ventilator support.
Does that help only it seems people think all they do (and I used to do) is care for people on ventilators....
Danny, dont turn this on me. Im not in politics.

Other countries acted well, others didn’t. Ours didn’t. If I recall our PM bragging about shaking the hands of the infected.

Says it all.
TD//If I recall our PM bragging about shaking the hands of the infected.//
Proof of this, or just more fake news?
Just as an aside, the NZ health minister was found to have taken his family to a beach 12 miles from his home via car.
TD, I don't think we'll know for some time whether this has been handled well. Some critics say we acted too late; some say we over reacted. For example we seemed to be slow to close schools but now an academic study has concluded the benefits were marginal and are outweighed by the disadvantages. Yes we seemed slow to test but some countries who have done lots of tests have done it in an unsystematic way and not all the tests have been checked thoroughly. Scientists can't agree on things like whether the public should wear masks. On the whole though we are acting pretty much in line with most countries and there are no indications that the trend re death rates is any better or worse.
// For example we seemed to be slow to close schools but now an academic study has concluded the benefits were marginal and are outweighed by the disadvantages.//

yeah bofe Nielie ( the govt statistical adviser ) and me
didnt understand that one

comment to day on Today

the study looked at dead people ( hooray - I have been telling them to do that !) and look! no one of school age has died !
and so they cant be spreading it amongst themselves ( er that doesnt follow - so at least half of AB will exclaim 'perfect logic!')
and they cant be a pool spreading it as walking infected to adults

er and the last bit doesnt follow either
but if you say it DOES - then you should re open schools

oo-er Boys and Girls - do you want to do the experiment ?

and it boils down to
in free speech you have varying opinions based on various bits of evidence and Boris ( but not Trump) has relied on experts to tell himi what is good and what is not.
Trump didnt or doesnt - and I think he is the one who is still shaking hands

and if Boris HAD but he didnt - listened to the Oxford School aka (epidemic what epidemic?) and Dr Lee of the Speccie, he could lie in bed and think - "well I am assured by some experts that this would have happened anyway and my death later this year is just happening abit earlier. It is after all, just a relabelling exercise of those dying from flu are not certified as dying from Corona"

yeah yeah and then he (Boris - dons a Roman toga and )clasps his bazoom and exclaims -
qualis artifex pereo ! - or yeah sozza Naomi! - qualis servus domini pereo - or -
capax imperator nisi imperassem !
( hey perfect ! cute mutation to 1st per perfect subjunctive )

yeah and Naomi says - god more Greek ! cant he write english?

thank you for reading down to her
the Latin quotes are pukka by the way - I am er an expert ....
// Some critics say we acted too late; some say we over reacted. //
too late !
Toe laat ! - a bit of nederlands there just to be vexing
all this is a post-facto innit

the whole point of maff people FF ( Hi FF ! ) is that they model and then predict from the model

looking back and say - by golly they did a crap job ! - isnt not what thrusting maff modellers do , innit ?

( sozza lapsed into mainstream AB speak - the alternative is Latin)
// Scientists can't agree on things like whether the public should wear masks. //
come on come on

they can agree and do - they dont work ! - the lack of agreement is whether they should be worn as a sign or talisman that they are obeying the bits that DO work

yeah so foo - what you are saying is dat de masks down at Porton down against bacteria and gas - dont work ? yeah? foo again

No - those are specialist masks with a gas seals and filters differing as to whether it is chemical or germ. We are talking about scarves and rags over part of the mouf. It is clear they dont work

the truth is out there
sozza most on AB wont understand that - - da troof is art dere !
I have moved this thread into the category "News".
You could always take a stab at English, pp.
Can't promise you'll make any more sense.
thank you for trying spicey
Boris read a lot of Latin at uni
and I er didnt - that is the link
I echo the sentiments at 20:17.
Is this really the time for picking holes in whether C19 was/is being handled here in the UK ?
We should all be singing from the same hymn sheet wishing the leader of our Government a speedy recovery from this deadly disease , apparently there’s some quite sick and offensive tweets ( I don’t do Twitter) and nasty FB Messages, those responsible ought to be thinking no one is safe and to be careful what they wish for!
Just said on news on radio that he is not on a ventilator. Get well soon Boris.
I heard that too, I wish him well and to rally round, he appears to be of strong character so let’s hope that’s helps him beat this
I sincerely hope so.
