You'd have to be a blinkered, politically motivated numpty to read/hear what Boris said as meaning that he had both Luis and Jenny by his side for every minute of 48 hours - they'd have collapsed of exhaustion apart from anything else.

He was giving thanks to them for being his primary carers (one at a time) among other NHS staff who tended to him - every patient will have nominated primary carers.

I'm no lover of Boris - but attempting to make political capital from his illness is pathetic beyond belief.

He was in ICU nursing care is usually one on one. He probably had the same two nurses for 12 hour shifts. Not both at the same time. Nothing different from anyone else

Having been in intensive care I can confirm that there is always a nurse whose sole responsibilty is to monitor and care for you. They swap over at shift-change but even for a toilet break they have to temporarily hand over to someone else, so you are never left without being monitored.
