Actually it's £11.5m. If you want to donate, but haven't yet, here is his Just Giving page.

The word "hero" is bandied about a lot at the moment. Some are, some aren't.

I know he's not doing it for fame, but he deserves a gong for a combination of this and his service.
i hope he makes it to his 100th birthday and that nothing untoward happens to Tom. His efforts are certainly worth a congrats from the Queen.

Corby, just heard the news. Apologies, I must have misheard at 8am. Your figures are correct.
People are actually loaded aren't they? No hardship anywhere.

Well done Tom. I have great admiration for you but the country should be funding the NHS, not a 99yr old war hero. Saint more like.
The country is funding it, via Cptn Tom’s efforts.

Don't be such a misery 10CS. People are not swimming in it, but they will help as much as they can. Nearly 700,000 people have donated. Instead of being critical of them, why don't you stick your hand in your pocket, like they have done?

The annual budget for the NHS is £140 billion. That comes from the people of the UK. It works out as around £3000 pa per adult or £4700 per household. So the country is funding it.
I expect this year the actual expenditure will be far higher. Lack of expenditure in the past may have been an issue but at the moment the government is spending whatever is needed in this crisis. Again the people of the UK public will fund it. There will no doubt be tax increases to do so and I don't think many would object to that. And some will happily pay extra- I'm happy to donate some of my furlough money to Tom for what he represents and as my way of showing appreciation to the care system.

But on the main point, what a guy Tom is. He is an inspiration to others, hopefully including those who sit behind a screen making negative comments and reposting Facebook drivel including conspiracy theories.
He has now completed the 100 laps but says he is going to keep going. What a fantastic man he is.
It's just a shame that billionaires like Richard Branson, Philip Green, Mike Ashley and Daniel Levy haven't followed Captain Toms lead, instead they go cap in hand to the Government asking for us taxpayers to bail them out, shame on them!!
I’ve been given an address via a friend of mine to send this legend a 100th Birthday card for April 30th , can’t put it here sadly as I’m sure it’ll be removed
I should hope it would be removed, Bobbi. I wouldn't want my name and address to be in the public domain.
Perhaps somebody could set up a PO box for people to send birthday cards to him, which could be collected and delivered on the day by someone who knows him or the mayor or similar.
