Personally, I'm within the %ages that will feel uncomfortable going out, sending my child to school and using public transport.

She also (quite rightly) had a bit of a rant about how the A&E Deps. were now almost deserted - extrapolating that people could not deal with the smallest thing themselves. When I sprained my ankle the other year I strapped it up myself. I thought that was normal.
What has happened to our people? We have gone on about the 'nanny state' for years and it turns out that people have been frightened and brainwashed. Wake up!
This is a very nasty virus, not arguing about that by any means, but the death rate is (on the last figures I read today) about 0.01%. More likely to have a mental health epidemic if we carry on as we are. Shaking head sadly…...

I'm with NJ and 1 or 2 others. Although I was all in favour of the lockdown and people respecting it for the first 3 weeks and even the current 3 weeks, enough is enough - or actually too much. As soon as it is eased I shall max out as much as possible. I haven't been bored and have had plenty to do but this sort of existence is untenable for much longer. I'm over 70 and therefore classed as vulnerable but I'm prepared to take my chance.
In UK it's actually now four times higher than your figure, jourdain- 405 per million (0.04%) have died so far, and the figure will keep growing of course.
Yes, it's still low overall but if you take the older age group of over 65s for example, they account for around three quarters of deaths and the death rate per million in that age group is nearly 2000 per million or 0.2%. You may feel it's still not much of a risk but for the over 75s it gets far higher again to around 0.4%. Then higher again for over 80s.
And these figures are during lockdown. The figures could easily double over the rest of the year if the unlocking is done too quickly.
But I can see why some would want to take their chances and live their lives rather than hide away

All the pressure on the NHS as come from Hancocks inability to provide PPE. a nurse interviewed today, and she's not the only one waited 2 hours at a testing station today for a so called priority test, after a 2 hour wait someone came up to her car and told her she will have to come back the next day, out of tests. sheeesh
//NJ, count yourself lucky that you've been to the shops.//
Let's put it like this, pasta. If we hadn't been to the shops we'd have probably starved to death by now. At the very least our diet would have become very unhealthy, living on what we happened to have stored before the madness set in. There is absolutely no chance of an online delivery slot or a "click & collect" slot. We have accounts with three of the four big supermarkets but none are available with any of them. At the start of the lockdown we tried all sorts of strategies to obtain a slot - we tried at midnight when the extra day was rolled out, in the small hours, all to no avail. That said, it's a bit much when the highlight of your life - second only to bottoming the kitchen, of course - is a trip to Tesco's especially when you have to ponce about queuing to get in. It's stupid to simply say "stay in". Some of us can't.
