Almost by definition, if the thread were closed accidentally then no mod would open up because they wouldn't have noticed.

A mistake was made. We're been told repeatedly that it's easily made. Maybe it shouldn't be so easy to make that mistake, but there we are. Time to move on back to the subject.

It's all very well for you to say 'move on', jim. You're holding the clean end of the *** stick.
We're repeatedly told that Mods have to write a report justifying their actions and the Ed reads all those reports. (so must agree with the Mod's action)
Both of those stories can't be true unless Mods are accidentally writing a report to go with these 'accidents'.
Incidentally, the same Mod tells us that Mods can't remove posts from threads they're involved in.
One of you needs to go on a refresher course.

Both stories *can* be true, spicerack. We've been told repeatedly by eg buenchico that thread closing is a simple one-click button, whereas post deletion etc requires a report to be submitted alongside the report process. One can be done accidentally, the other cannot.

Incidentally, that mods aren't allowed to remove posts on threads they're involved in is a fallacy. They can - and do.

One of the advantages of having a good memory, I suppose, Naomi. I remember what people have said about it in the past, always helps to know something.

I'm not sure what Spicey meant about mods being unable to delete posts in threads they're involved in. I thought the mod who said that merely meant that they personally don't.

It is what it is folk, there no real point in getting het up about it. It is annoying when a thread is closed without explanation, or a post removed without warning but there's Jack Schitt we can do about it.
