Cummings 4 year old son is autistic. On 9th April the government adjusted lockdown rules for people with autism/carers of children with autism. THAT is why the government is insisting he's broken no rules/laws. I don't know why the (leftwing-biased) press aren't reporting this fact. They are out for his blood. If you look at ALL today's newspaper headlines you will see that it's not just the so-called "left-wing" press that is outraged by Cummings behaviour - the arch Tory rag Daily Mail is equally outraged. His disgraceful actions are further compounded by Boris's disgusting attempts to defend him in the briefing yesterday. They should both GO.

As I've said on another thread, Cummings wasn't the only person suffering from Covid with an autistic child. I bet the others in a similar situation didn't travel the length of the country for support. Did Cummings have no friends/family in the London area?

So as Cummings made the trip on 30th March maybe he knew about the planned 8th April change and thought it might be applied retrospectively.
Regarding his alleged visits to the castle and the bluebell fields it'll be interesting to see whether he chooses to prove he wasn't there or just waits to see whether someone else finds evidence to show he was.

Thanks gromit. I thought it was 30th March rather than the 27th, If it was the 27th March then his 14 day isolation would have ended in time for him to visit that castle on 12th April (presumably as exercise)

It's irrelevant. You can't just farm autistic children out to anyone who will have them. It doesn't work like that because many can't deal with change. They need familiarity so I'm not surprised the grandparents were roped in to help.

It matters not one jot whether or not it was allowed; what matters is that it is perceived by millions of people to have been a breach of the rules. What Cummins should have done is explain that he thought it was in line with the rules and issue a grovelling apology to those who thought otherwise. His "I did nothing wrong" stance is irritating people and damaging the future propects of the Tory party.
