As one astute political commentator pointed out - this new reaction will simply harden the stances of both sides of this argument.
I do however believe that it will ultimately strengthen the PM's position in drawing a line - it's doubtful if there is anywhere else for this to go.
Of course, Mr Cummings' reason for taking his wife for a day out by the river on her birthday as being to 'test his eyesight' is such a bizarre and frankly laughable excuse, that only someone with serious issues in relating to the real world would present it as believable - but again, it is unlikely that any action can be taken retrospectively.

I echo Naomi, at whenever, 'We can but hope'. 'May' have committed a minor breach does not constitute a blatant breach of rules. Mr.J2 and I bothered to check the 'Recommendations' very closely and read that one of the purposes for which we were allowed to leave the house was for 'exercise'. OK, fine, we continued to walk our dog twice a day. People should read the rules and not listen to interpretations.
Where did people get the idea that they were only 'allowed out' once a day for 1 hour? That never existed. I drove 57 miles each way to give my granddaughter a much wanted birthday present. She had earned it by reciting all of her tables to me down the phone. I don't break my word to a child, so it was essential to my mental health I suppose. I put the present on the doorstep, backed off and we both got a lot of pleasure in her reception of it. Then I got back in my car and drove home. I had no social contact with anyone and endangered no-one - apart from the usual driving risks of course.
This is a press feeding-frenzy, no more and inexcusable at a time when we are supposed to be pulling together.

I don’t care I don’t have a dislike for Mr Cummings but on his own admission he drove a car when he was not fit to drive .So was the police commenting on this or the fact he did not break lock down rules .B J and most of the Tory government have said he done nothing wrong fair enough I was not there so I don’t know .
I walk my dog for over two hours every morning and on the first morning of lockdown I was terrified. I thought there'd be a copper on every corner and on foot in the park keeping an eye on me to make sure I didn't do more than an hour and oh the relief when I didn't see one policeman! Of course I soon got over that.

It's actually questionable if Mr Cummings' suitability to drive is a decision that is his to take - but of course, he obviously thinks he knows best - even if the possibility that he doesn't may have led to his death, and that of his family, and sundry other innocent people.
