They already are ... as are bicycles...and they make me so angry. I am beyond fed up with having people on bikes on pavement ring their bells for me to get on the road so they can pass me (no I don't!) For Christmas this year I want a stinger...
Well I get cyclist riding on the pavement where I am so no doubt I'll have to try and dodge these as well now.
It's interesting that it's only rented e-scooters that will be legal on roads - privately-owned ones will not. Presumably it's because they will be limited to 15mph.
About to be discussed on Jeremy Vine, BBC Radio 2
They are a pollution beater, I think there was some legal issue to whether these would be allowed on the road, may be they are now, if so they won't be so much of a problem on the path.
Mally, at least they ring their bells. They don't here. Both me and the dog have jumped when they whizz by out of nowhere.
I'm afraid the scooters will appear in the park we walk in...oh joy.
The Lime scooter did similar in parts of Australia. Introduced them in large numbers and forced the hand of the authorities to grant exemptions for a "trial".

Here they are not allowed on the road.

At the speeds your government has allowed and running on the road you will definitely see hospitalisations and deaths.

They are quite dangerous. High rider position and the little wheels don't roll well over potholes.

I always remember this guy:

I think you will find that these will be used more in big cities, for hopping two or three mile, especially useful in central London.

mally: when I hear a bicycle ring a bell on the pavement I don't move but it does serve to let me know there is a retard nearby.

Or a child perhaps?
Should keep the Traffic Division Accident Investigators busy.
As an aside. I briefly noticed, recently ,that a pedestrian had been killed by a cyclist. Not sure if it was on the pavement or carriageway.
Children should not be capable of travelling at 25mph on the pavement.
Intersting to see it will be rental only - probably insured and you must have a licence - watch this space for endorsements.
ymb, possibly it means that if anyone's caught on the pavement the owner rather than the rider can be fined, which would be easier and more profitable. But I don't know how the law is framed.

I agree, but I was referring to the bicycle bell of which Tora was referring to.
Thank you. Sadly that could be the same. I didn't read the circumstances. I just noticed the headline somewhere and it registered.
Tora Tora Tora.....well done..I do that too and the get called all sorts of names.....I could rant on all day on this topic but will get a steel walking stick and introduce it through the spokes on said bikes..or use my stinger...one day.....
Anther idiotic Govt idea to ease congestion. There wont be any need to ease congestion when 50% of the workforce are on the rock n roll.
should give the undertakers a boost.
They most definitely will be ridden on pavements, I can guarantee it!!
