That's right. Commuted means he's still guilty of the crime, but won't serve the sentence, ie be punished in any way.

He hasn’t been pardoned. He has had his sentence commuted.

Every president has pardoned or dummied sentences.

If you take the whole Russia investigation that was started as a political hit on a presidential candidate and then furthered that to a president and say the investigation itself was illegal I would have thought (as a non legal person) that any conviction obtained was unsound.

At least 17 lies by the FBI to get illegal surveillance. Hmm, if they had to lie so much makes a reasonable person wonder why...

Although to be honest I don’t know what Stone was convicted of so can’t comment on that but a lot of people have been let out of prison early for many reasons. Apparently thousands, including many violent criminals and rapists, have been let out early so that political prisoners, non mask wearers and people defending their homes and communities can be put in their.

But the Obama administrations effort to get Trump by any means says a lot about the mentality of those who still try now. By any means.....

Fair enough. I think the aim of commuting a sentence is to show leniency when it's obvious that is the correct thing to do, for example when someone's been in prison for a long time awaiting a trial, the sentence is commuted on the basis that the person has already suffered enough - especially when there are mitigating circumstances around whatever the crime was in the first place.

It's not for just letting your cronies off the hook because you can, and also because they could potentially have some dirt to dish on you if you didn't, as seems to be the case here.

If you read the Wikipedia article on the Teapot Dome scandal, you will see that Harding was not aware of the illegal aspects of the project – so he is hardly in the same league as Trump.

Stone appears to be an attack dog. TBH most politicians and big businesses have one in some shape or form. And at the moment Trump is sooo hated by the left they dig deeper, faster and more often into anyone associated with him. That’s why they had to lie 17 times in legal documents to get the FISA awards that allowed ILLEGAL surveillance on the Trump campaign and even into his presidency. But one does, if you are a reasonable person have to ask, as I’ve said before, if they had to lie and plot and dig so deep and basically come up empty or a few beans in the bottom of the can, how dirty can Trump be!

I haven’t figured out his actual connection to the Trump campaign as he seems he left in 2015. But in any case, personally I lean on the side of I don’t rightly care that he commuted his sentence. Because one reason the left don’t use it for their mates is because they cover for them in the beginning. They have decades of experience in covering up their illegal activity so know exactly how to find the dirt on Trump because he hasn’t their political experience.

If there were fair and equitable reporting there would be less division in the US. But the left are so deranged they have given up all pretence of fairness. It is one reason you get an idiot who says if you don’t agree with BLM and instead say all lives matter you don’t want equality.
