This is getting ridiculous now. Chopping changing rules here rules there but never anything done when left wing protests happen. Who won the election, was it Jezza after all?

The other day Rishi hands out cash to try to get people to go out. Compulsory face-masks (far too late now so clearly just a Government control thing) will put many off going out - it could well be the end of the high street.

So for me Boris needs to go along with Hancock. Let Rishi step up to the plate.

What's a face covering if not a mask?
Theland, a scarf etc.

Why the pedantry over face covering/mask?

danny, my post was to YMB and he definitely used the word 'masks'
Question Author
"well with the majority Boris has, he won't be going anywhere"

I think you may be confusing his majority within the Party with the majority in Government. I am not suggesting the Tories are going anwhere - I suggested Rishi.
ymb, because where some might object to wearing a mask, they might be OK with a scarf etc.
Roy, he did, mistakenly.
I've seen, '' designer,'' face masks. Such vanity!
Question Author
Its very telling how some would rather debate my use of the word mask rather than the underlying point. Mask/face covering whats the difference still Government control - just like the Commies.
The Tory back-stabbers are sharpening their knives - no change there then.
Only you could get worked up by something so trivial, Theland.

No different to any other democratic party, but then that doesnt suite your Marxist agenda does it?

We all know Marxists like you think everyone should tow the line or be 'silenced'.
Look, I didn't start it but...toe the line
what we have here in political terms is common sense going out of the window to appease the 75% of the population who are thick as pig excrement. The Gov know it's bow locks but like all politicians their primary focus is popularity. So they do things they know are wrong/silly/unnecessary to appeal to the great unwashed in order to preserve some level of approval. Scientific advice will be cherry picked to align with political intent. It doesn't matter who is in no 10 the result would be the same. We just have to ride this out until eventually returning to normal becomes the new favoured thing. Personally I'd go back to normal tomorrow.
LadyCG I don't get worked up over designer face masks I assure you.
Question Author
So long as it is proper normal TTT, not the controlling 'New Normal".

Bojo needs to grow a pair or move out the way. He has a huge majority and can ride out anything. Plus Sir Kier has many of his own problems to deal with so cant get too beligerant.
07:36 that first para. made me laugh out loud. But I am fed up of all this now - start wearing face coverings from 24 July?? What's the point of that with 10 days still to go?? Sorry Boris, fast losing faith.
I would imagine that the compulsory mask thing is as much about encouraging the alleged mass of people who are too scared to go out without one, to go shopping. That may be a good thing, but I'm not aware of any poll or research that has been done to see whether such a mass of people exists, and whether it outnumbers the people who might bw pu toff going out in a country which simply does not have the culture of face coverings.
I have been having a quiet bet with myself that Johnson would not lead the Tories into the next election, but it's far too early really to say. Mr Sunak is popular now - he looks calm, composed and rational alongside the PM (which is also SKS's big advantage), but will he be as popular when he starts grabbing back the money he has been handing out, as inevitably he must at some future time.

That is what this government has been doing ever since BJ became PM, in case you hadn't noticed :-)
Another good example: "people are complaining about foreigners bringing the virus into the country: let's slap a quarantine on ALL incoming air passengers" - something that has been quietly dropped (actually not that quietly)
