I confess I am uncomfortable with the news that she will remain in jail for up to twelve months pending trial.

On the basis of innocent until proven guilty, that seems an excessive amount of time to deprive an innocent person of their liberty.

I find it strange that she has been detained in custody until July, but Judges think she will abscond if released, she has enough money available.

As well as being considered a flight risk, it took them long enough to find her, there will also be the possibility that being free on bail would give her the opportunity to 'interfere' with evidence she has hidden somewhere.

I have no issue with the denial of bail and liberty - simply the length of time that incarceration before trial is apparently going to last.

She can be rest assured that the 12months remanded in custody will be counted as 'time served' and deducted from her 35 year sentence when 'they will find her guilty'.

In England & Wales (probably Scotland as well but I haven't checked) the maximum time allowed in custody pre-trial is 182 days (six months). There are provisions to extend this is in some very limited circumstances.

Don't know about taking some time to find her. I have read that the FBI have been keeping tabs on her for quite a while. Apparently they were waiting for the indictment before carrying out her arrest.

Since she has not yet been tried, much less been found guilty, your vigilante punishment is not applicable, and fortunately, since America is a relatively civilised country, it's not likely to be any time soon.

The short answer is, who knows, but I would suggest that she figured she was safe in hiding in the country of her choice, and since she has to be somewhere, it might as well be somewhere she wants to be.
