At the moment it is nothing more than a form of illegal graffiti. Perhaps Ms Reid would be worthy of a plinth if she ran a successful campaign to eliminate modern day slavery perpetuated by her BAME brothers in Leicester and elsewhere. So far she has benefited no one apart from boosting her own ego and is not worthy of public recognition.

It was always meant to be temporary.
A better statue, if they want to honour diversity, would be one of two small children, one black, one white, holding hands. That would represent true equality.
Yes or get children to decide what they want on the plinth.

But do Bristolians want a statue of Peppa Pig?
I think they'll be more creative than that ;-)
Mr Tumble?
Put up an Orca - call it the Plinth of Whaleth...
Hopefully all the pigeons for miles around will let us know how much they like it.
NO
Now been removed ( 7 o'clock news)
no I think the white supremacists on AB -
their name is Legion for we are many
( καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ Λεγιὼν ὄνομά μοι, ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν )
will vote "no"

I thought it was rather a good spoof what?
at my auld college 1890- under a cloud at present but all things pass - we voted on a proposal "we deplore the college allowed the rowing club to be renamed the Winnie Mandela Boat Club".
This caused an amusing "frisson" amongst the dons whilst they tried to find out what was going on
Why not have both with an information board between them giving the history.
It's a very good sculpture but provocative on a number of levels. Good they chose a woman too.

much betta betht answer

nice to see you falling back in tAB ways shoo'a
the pullers down were many - is there room on the plinth for ALL of them ?
if they were kissing each other (oh the thought! hur hur hur) - it could be the Breeding of the five thousand

(you can see what my morning reading was)
Its gone.

I don't think the council had any choice, 1, it could have opened a can of worms and unauthorised statues would appear everywhere.
2. it would have been pulled down and dumped in the docks.
actually I thought Tommy and his frenz
would organise a well publicised - "statue-pull"

wiv someone in a clawth cap providing dray horses and cart for a emblematic ride down to the docks whilst the on lookers sing tunelessly - Rule Britannia
Yes, that's the third post today saying it's gone, we even had one last night.

It was always meant to be temporary.
Sorry Lynne, I didn't scroll up far enough to see the other posts.
