> Okay, so who would you like to see doing a better job? Curious, that's all

Boris! Anybody!
//Germany has had 9,000 deaths
The UK has had 45,000 deaths.//

That is not the only measure to judge the success or otherwise of the handling of this crisis. In fact, apart from anything else, they are not the only deaths that need to be considered.
^^^plus Gromit never gives context.

1. 0.06% of the population who have caught Covid have died.
2. 0.0007% of the population who have caught Covid but are under 45 have died.
3. Those under 40 are 70 times less likely to die from Covid than those over 80.

That assumes you catch it in the first place, and at odds of 4000 to 1, that alone is unlikely.
^^^over 90% of those who have died are over 75.

Conclusions?

Protect the old and the vulnerable.

Everybody else, carry on as normal normal.
There won't be as many deaths from flu this year because Covid has got them first! That's why the figures on deaths are down on the same time last year.
> 0.06% of the population who have caught Covid have died.

Estimates of the number that have died range from 40,000 to 65,000. I prefer the 65,000 number myself: excess deaths. But let's go with the lower number: 40,000 deaths. If 0.06% of the population who have caught Covid have died, and 40,000 have died, then the population who have caught Covid is 66.7 million - everybody in the whole country. Not everybody in the whole country has had Covid, so you've got your numbers mixed up somewhere.
DD@ 16.01 AND 16.42. how many more times are you going to keep telling us all the same statistics, I know it makes you look clever, but we've all got it now. Thanks.
DD, the trouble is we have no idea how many people have caught Covid, let alone compared with other countries where we have even less idea. The excess deaths figure looks like the most useful metric.
14.40, Gromit are you getting confused ? I have not once mentioned the name of the Conservative parties chief destroyer on this thread. Check it out. Ok.
Let's hope that a dramatic excessive control of expectations. Normality half a year hence !? We need to hope the expectation is really August, or September at the very latest. Christmas be blowed.
Not watched them in a long while.
14.38 Careful now Danny ,you are starting to get a little bit full of yourself.

Haha, I should really be saying thank you to you
//...how many more times are you going to keep telling us all the same statistics, I know it makes you look clever, but we've all got it now.//

We may have all got it, tc, but from where I'm looking it seems that some are not exactly absorbing what the numbers really tell you.
I hadn't realised that for a long time now the government's own figures on deaths come with thwe caveat that " ... not all deaths reported here are caused by coronavirus"

I don't know whether to rejoice at that, or wonder why the hell this is not pointed out more clearly (too embarrassing the other way?) or what.
Of course, the actual deaths from coronavirus must be accurate cos a lot more people have died than normal.
??
18.37 What the numbers tell me is that we have a new virus unlike any other, and if we don't keep some sort of control over it, or take action to keep it in check, then it will become even more deadly. You can play around with figures and percentages until the cows come home, but this has got the potential to wipe out millions left unchecked. Sadly some care more about their wallets than human life.
