Spain - Coronavirus

I often look into the site to see what's happening around the world. It's obviously not got correct data for many countries. However Spain has been producing figures on s regular basis. Suddenly, and since the spike, there is no information. One wonders why?

It happens on that site now and again. I have been using it to track a few countries. Figures disappeared variously for the UK, USA, Sweden and France that I know of. Lasted a couple of days. In some cases when the numbers came back they had been "re-aligned" (with what, is anybody's guess).

True NJ. The information is only as good as what reported and its pretty obvious a lot of things are being hidden. I check on Spain because I have a lot of people I really care about living there and from the start their figures were very iffy. Its beginning to come to light.

Well that’s interesting. I’m in France and have a feeling the government will announce that coming back from France will quarantine from Saturday.
It seems they collect there data Thursday or Friday.

As Chris says the spike in France is nowhere near Spain's huge increase, but there are reports that the UK might take the same action with France, and possibly Germany, next weekend.

Is that coronavirus really so dangerous as qurantine conditions are?

'Not reported' very significant. Spain, along with many other countries have been very underhand with their reporting of deaths.

I recall hearing on More or Less that Spain had changed its way of counting to include only deaths in a very recent period- so Covid deaths that came to light from say a week earlier in perhaps a Care home or at home were not counted. We have been counting deaths that occurred through heart attacks etc where the deceased had previously had a positive Covid test and had recovered several months ago.
International comparisons are fraught with difficulty.
Only excess deaths gives a full picture of the overall situation in each country.
Anyway, hasn't this been done to , er, death on here

Booked for the Canaries late September, I just won't go if things continue like they are but maybe putting a stop to all the marches etc and making them illegal during a pandemic might be a help?

I wouldn't make plans to holiday anywhere at the moment. If people everywhere in Europe just stayed on home ground and led a normal life as far as possible then perhaps things would settle. If and when things do settle, we will stick to the UK for our getaways and help our economy. I am not interested in fact that Spain is almost begging tourists to go there and claiming it is safe. It is not safe. And I don't care about their economy suffering. I care about ours. My best friend lives there and is wishing she was here.

The prices to holiday here are quite steep , we'd have to travel to places like Devon and Cornwall for the weather and I'm sure the Devotonians amongst us would prefer not to have an influx whilst numbers are rising?

Apc then we'd get the 'it's our right' mob, that's all well and good but it's our right to stay virus free too

We have to ask ourselves whether holidays are really necessary as this crucial time, especially for those who have been furloughed for months or for pensioners like us who are vulnerable. I certainly wouldn't want a holiday where ì had to wear a mask, keep a safe distance and use hand sanitizer before I went on the beach. Pubs and bars would be no fun at all. I would rather stay at home.

Bobbi, I did make it clear that we wouldn't go on holiday anywhere whilst its not safe. When I said home ground, I meant in the generslvicinity of home and work, friends, etc.

on a day you will get rsults relevant for a few days past
5000, on the day, 150 the day before and 75 two days ago
so you readjust the figures
I am note sure if they ever go down

people know these figures arent god-given innit?

I love holidays by the way. But am in no hurry to get away. I am content to wait. I am now out and about locally, but my base is home.
