They’re nutcases.//
They are entertaining stuff, dd. In fact, as I said, an absolute crease!
//ladybirder True, but you could wear it until you are seated and wear again if you need to go to the loo or the bar.//
Yes, barsel, all part of making life as unpleasant as possible by having to indulge in dubiously beneficial practices, whilst partaking in what should be pleasurable, everyday activities. But a bigger question: whilst you’re eating and/or drinking, obviously with your face covering removed, where do you keep it?

@ 15.00 DD I don't understand what you don't get, the WHO and the government have explained it to us all many times, the need for face masks. Is it a case of, that you just shout about it on here, but when you go out your not so brave to shout about it. If I felt so strong about like you seem to, I would stand my ground out and about, that's a true believer.
NJ You can keep it where you like. I wanted to know why you have to wear it in some indoor places and not others. It isn't pleasant to wear it in any circumstances, but you are supposed to wear it if you go for a takeaway but not if you are eating in. Why? If you go for a takeaway, you are not spending time with other members of the public, yet in a pub, cafe and restaurant, you are. It doesn't make sense.
There is no advice from anyone which convinces me that mask wearing is beneficial to the extent it needs to be compulsory anywhere other than for treatment of the virus.
There do seem to be additional caveats related to the “proper” use of them as well and I know for a fact I don’t abide by those, tho happy to wear one

Actually, teacake, the WHO recently changed its stance on face coverings. Until a month or so ago they believed they provided little or no benefit when worn by the general public. There is some evidence to suggest that they changed their stance following pressure from national governments. The UK government, of course, is eager to react to anything they see on the likes of Facebook and Twitter (where there are seemingly many "lockdown maniacs" and "maskvists"). So, "We'd better do something. I know, face masks is something, so we'll do that."
I thought I kept a copy of the earlier WHO advice but I cannot seem to find it.

There just isn't any joined-up thinking; since the pubs were allowed to open I've been to a number of different pubs with a number of different people without any need to wear a mask, and yet if I pop next door to the small Sainsbury's (my nearest pub is next to one) to buy a pint of milk, I'm required to wear one.
Madness.
Madness.
//What does your common sense tell you?//
My common sense tells me it is not a good idea to strap a piece of cloth, which is going to quickly become warm and damp, over my nose and mouth. This is especially so when I am likely to have to adjust it, remove it, find somewhere to store it and then replace it when I may not be able to properly sanitise my hands.
