Anybody been watching this today?

I watched most of it, in between watching every Premiership Rugby game - god I've missed rugby.

Did anybody see the Kohima Epitaph: "When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, we gave our today."

I'm glad the anniversary has been remembered. As someone who remembered VJ day very well it has always been surprising and sad to me that it seems a bit of a forgotten "add on " to VE day. And yes DD that quotation is so moving and sums it all up really. There were such horrors - particularly in the POW camps.

Yes - and YES. We say the Kohima Epitaph every year at church at our Remembrance service. A child usually stands up to recite it. It is very, very moving.
I thought Boris delivered 'They shall grow not old' extremely well also.
I was in tears throughout a lot of the programme.

I was so pleased it was commemorated, as I've said elsewhere my mother was so angry on the 50th VE day anniversary because there was nothing for people like my Dad who were out east. Some out there suffered the most appalling conditions.

At last, recognition of FARELF and their painful overlooked war at the hands of the japanese. I appreciated the railway lines lining the memorial, signifying the Burma railway attrocity.

My uncle was a POW in Japan. He never wanted to talk about it nor see VJ Day commemorated. Just saying.
