I think the measures adopted to combat Covid have been way way over the top, and even more so now given the tiny risk, but why on earth would these people think it's a hoax? What end do they think will be achieved by pretty much every country in the world being a part of the hoax?
I assume these are the same clowns who think the moon landing was faked and the Twin Towers was the work of the CIA.

down like toddlers who've been told it's time for bed and that everything is so unfair because the deep state aliens want to make you put a piece of cloth over your mouth when you go into a shop.
Having said that, I've started to wonder whether the reaction has been proportionate to the threat, along with alot of people, I would imagine.

22:24 Priceless, nailit !
Our provincial health officer has operated on a common-sense basis, both politically & for the public which has generally complied, so our numbers were & are quite low.
Public buildings were closed & most still are or operating on a back-door basis like our libraries.
No lock-downs, though a few people were charged for blatant disregard by congregating in large groups. We have our beer louts too. Party on !
Many businesses advertise their "above the norm" practices & are eager for the trade, even the medical professions.
Some stores are starting to require masks (for the 2nd wave ?) but enforcement is minimal. Was shopping in a local supermarket for quite a while before noticing that most other customers were masked, some rather ineffectively. Asked an employee about it & he gave me a mask. The ear-loop immediately came loose, same with the 2nd, 3rd one held. Chinese workmanship ?
No protests or screaming Karens, yet.

Objecting to the compulsory restrictions and obligations is fair enough. One doesn't need any conspiracy theory to justify it. Trouble is, when folk don't know the facts they are vulnerable to believe anything that seems to explain the mystery. But Occam's Law suggests collusion between celebs, powerful individuals, and governments, is not the answer one should give first priority to.
It's very sad when some citizens won't see that enforced wearing of something is an attack on the western views of individual freedom, or who value that so little they want to compare those rightfully objecting with "toddlers who've been told it's time for bed and that everything is so unfair". Unfortunately it is the views of society as a whole that dictate the type of society everyone gets. This is likely why we are losing so many good parts of culture and ways of doing things to be replaced by less convenient and riskier ways as time goes on.
Flat earthers?
They could be something else.

//…and if a medic or dentist treated you whilst not wearing a mask how would you feel?//
For normal medical consultations and treatment it wouldn’t trouble me at all. Surgeons wear them because they stand over patients who have large open wounds; dentists because they loom over their patients who lie on their back with their mouths wide open. For normal medical interaction there is no need.
//I'm assuming the corner shop is not completely deserted or there would be noone to serve you//
Indeed not. But whilst the customer is compelled to wear a covering to protect everybody around them, the shop staff are not.
We’ve gone through the mask thing enough times. I’ve posted the WHO advice which is echoed by the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Jenny Harries (who seems a little less prone to hysteria than her boss, Professor “Play it Safe” Whitty). That advice is that there is no evidence that the wearing of face coverings by the general public does much to prevent spread. But that same advice mentions at length that wearing such coverings considerably increases the risk of self-contamination by the wearer. Which is why I don’t wear one. There seems to be a consensus among politicians (those that have been allowed to have a say, that is) that face coverings provide “confidence” for those afraid to go out. I’m not putting myself at (albeit minimal) additional risk to help people who are unable to think things through for themselves.

And on top of all this we have shops herding customers around like cattle, its getting really pathetic. Building barricades with boxes of stock in the walkways between the isles, to create what they believe to be a great one way system, until someone decides to do the normal thing and stop to look at an item on the shelf, then you have a human traffic jam, and bottle necks, god help you if you decided not to purchase anything because you then have to fight your way out through the one and only till that's open. Any sort of fire risk assessment or vacation has gone out of the window.
