Almost unbelievable how many US teenagers think the holocaust was a myth.

These are not teenagers - and the “shocking levels of ignorance about the greatest crime of the 20th century” are not restricted to young American adults. You might be surprised at how prevalent they are, particularly within the Muslim world.
Naomi //particularly within the Muslim world.//
Why would Muslims be interested in the Holocaust, as far as I know it did not affect them.
danny, a small number of Muslims were killed in Auschwitz, but that aside Islam has rather a history with the Jews.
Thanks Naomi, I wasn't aware of the Auschwitz connection.I visited Belsen in 1952 and saw the gas ovens and mass graves, one of which had a placard stating that it contained 3,000 bodies. It was an enlightening experience.
Visiting those places is an eye-opener, danny - even for those who think they're fully aware of the horrors.
nothing surprises me from a nation that thinks wrestling is real and the moon landings were fake!
In that case the problems they had with Pearl Harbour are fake news.
We know the Holocaust did take place, but how many people believe that Francis Drake, really did finish his game of Bowls while The Armada was approaching ?.
"nothing surprises me from a nation that thinks wrestling is real and the moon landings were fake! "

And the nation that brought us the moon landings, in fairness :-)
Mind you, a flag flying free in a vacuum? What's all that about ...
That was a joke by the way ...
I've not read the link yet. But I do know that I, as a high school student in the 60s, was very aware of what the hHolocaust was. Mind you, I lived in a suburb with a fairly high Jewish population and many of my friends were Jewish. The Holocaust was certainly part of our history education. Have things changed since then?
It's not the young who are at fault in my view, but the education system that has neglected to teach the appropriate historical topics. The holocaust and the barbarity of the Nazi regime should always be taught in schools.
its right though, the USA as a nation are very insular (big island!) The standing joke used to be "Do you want to see a big magic trick? Open an American newspaper and see the rest of the world vanish."

Blimey, Sparkly - you expect them to know a bit of US history, even if the rest of the world is a blank.

I'd like to see a similar survey of British yoofs, mind...

A lot of people equate anti-semitism with Hitler and the Nazis. However the great socialist leader Stalin was equally anti-semitic.In fact a few Jewish doctors in Russia were spared execution due to Uncle Joe popping his clogs shortly before they were due to be shot.Look up the "Doctors Plot" on Google.

Most anti semites these days can be found in TROB hand wringing clubs and of course the labour party.

I would respond, but I think it would get me banned. You know how some folk here deliberately misspell a word as "carp"? Well, "tawt".
sad but true Mozz, do you deny the labour party is home to a lot of anti semites?
