If My Wife And I Had To Self Isolate For 14 Days, How Would We Do Our Shopping?
We have no relatives nearby, you can't get a delivery for love nor money at the moment for a couple of weeks so what are the options? Seems like one of us would have to risk it and nip to the supermarket and hope for the best or starve.

we have been in the situation of "maybe" having to self isolate at short notice for over six months now (or not being able to get internet shopping slots) so why people couldn't add an extra packet of pasta or tin of beans to their weekly shop in those 26 odd weeks is beyond me. How do people manage if they (for example) had a bug, or dizzy spells and couldnt get out for a few days??

Who is worrying, 237? It's simply a matter of being prepared for what might happen if you cannot get to the shops for a length of time. That seems better than twittering on about perhaps not having enough food for a couple of weeks and starving.
We don't "stock our house". We just plan well and that's not difficult for anyone.

//...so you go from "I need to go shopping several times a week to get a decent diet" To "I enjoy the walk"//
I don't believe I said either of those things - but it's been a long thread.
//NJ you dont have to self isolate because you may have been vaguely near someone with covid though, so it seems like a spurious "argument" to me//
Then why do I need to provide my details when visiting a restaurant? The guidance says I will be contacted if I have been "in close contact" with somebody who tests positive. The only people I am in close contact with in a restaurant are those I went there with. I know who they are and I'd know if they'd tested positive.

Theres also the waiter/waitress who servd you who might be the one whose got it or the people at a nearby table, or you might of touched the same door hangles or menu's. There was cases where one person infected lot's of others in the same club and another in a church even tho they dint all go in together

Yes there might be any of those things - and many more. But I've assessed that the risk of my becoming infected via that route is so low as to be insignificant and that's my choice. So if I visit a restaurant where one of the waiters tests positive, should I then suffer house arrest for two weeks?

dave - if it happens, just go out with your mask on and get your shopping. You will be fine. Unless you believe all the scaremongering that is RIFE on this site and every corner you turn round you will be infected with the dreaded virus!! I don't believe all that carp and never have. I will NOT self isolate ever, because I have a dog to walk and food to buy and no immediate family close by to help me. Listen to NJ, he talks the most sense on here …
I will probably be castigated by said scaremongers on here, but they are just whistling in the wind as far as I am concerned !!
