Apparently sanitary items are not 'essentials'.

I beg to differ but what do you think?

According to Tesco I should've pointed out. 'Other supermarkets and retailers are available'.

Tesco’s fault that one.
They’ve not covered themselves in glory recently.
Hopefully the whole nonsensical restriction though will be rescinded
"...a non story"...that's a bit disparaging. It is a story because Tesco got it wrong...other shops may get it wrong...and this makes consumers aware.
from that pic it looks like toothpaste is also a non essential!
It's the sort of mistake that requires some explanation for how a store could be foolish enough to make, especially in this day and age.
once again this is jobsworth Xmas, they must be creaming their pants over this latest bit of power they have been given. If people are allowed in a store what's the point of limiting what they can buy anyway, pointless? They are in there anyway, ok ok wall off books and toys etc but leave the toiletries aisle open. I think the Taffs have ballsed this one right up.
a thread removed because it is true
o god - only on AB

the welsh govt state that after a period of reflection they WERE essential products
man said that not rurpsingly
It's being re-thunk anyway isn't it, due to tens of thousands of irate people signing a petition about the ridiculousness of it all. Glad common sense prevailed here.

I asked for it to be removed just under an hour ago but it's still here....

Oh well.....

As an aside.....hope they didn't block contraceptive products off!
tigs it's a valid post no need to remove.
Did you see the guy who went in with just his underpants on as clothing isn't considered essential? I thought it was funny.
It's being re-thunk anyway isn't it,...

It's already been re-thunk and will not be changed. Mr Drakeford mulled it over yesterday afternoon while his roast beef was going down:

So is confirmed one of the most ridiculous of all the nonsensical rules to spew forth from the four UK governments (and believe me, there's strong competition for that award).
I missed that Prudie, but it definitely would have made me laugh.
I last heard that the first minister of Wales was going to apply common sense after the petition, so I naturally assumed it wasn't going to go ahead. Seems I was wrong then. Absolutely ludicrous. Hope it doesn't transfer over to England.
This thread is now active.
There you are Tigger. All's well. As I said before it's a mistake, that's all, but what I would ask is why no one at Tescos had the sense to query it immediately? Someone must have known it couldn't be right to stop people buying toothpaste etc ... surely?
