TTT - // AH: "Baroness Lawrence is saying that poorer housing and health care are contributory factors in the increased spread of the virus, which is a fact." - So only BAME people are in that bracket?? //
No they are not, and she is not saying that they are.
// "She is also saying that black and Asian communities are a sum of the families who make up those with poorer housing and health care, which is also a fact." - dunno what "a sum" means but again that is not exclusive to BAME people //
No, it's not, and she is not saying that it is.
// "She is also saying that black and Asian people have been demonised for spreading the virus more that non-ethic groups, and that is also a fact." - agreed, they have been demonised and they do spread it more. //
Do you have a link to back up that assertion? If not, then that's repeating nasty gossip rooted in racist attitudes, that doesn;t make it a fact that ethnic groups spread the virus more easily because they are ethnic groups, there are other factors involved, obviously.
// "But she does not link any of these facts in any way that suggests that virus gravitates towards ethnic minorities, because that would be nonsense." - No, many ailments historically effect certain ethic groups, sickle cell for example, we have no evidence that COVID does not have its own preferences. //
We have no evidence that it does either. When there is a link you can provide that proves that Covid does have its own preferences, as you put it, and it is a proven fact, as it is with sickle cell, then you can make the point. Until then you are assuming, and guessing and concluding inaccurately, but I have to give you marks for consistency.
// "A virus is indiscriminate, it will spread wherever it can get, but the factors advised increase the chances of infection, but that is because that is now a virus operates. To assume that the virus therefore targets different ethnic groups is utter nonsense." - agreed it's not "targetting" we are talking about, it's the possibility that it more readily infects and thrives better in certain ethnic groups. //
But that is not what Baroness Lawrence is talking about!
If you want to start a thread with that as a premise, then fine, but you can't use Baroness Lawrence's quotes in your link because she is not talking about that aspect of the spread of the virus.
You have read, and I suggest not understood fully, the points Baroness Lawrence is making, and then used your conclusion to post your OP, and once again I have to point out, it is not a valid argument.
