Covid is spreading "significantly" faster through England than even the government's predicted "worst-case" scenario,

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54750775

And it all kicked off when they bribed people to pack out restaurants and bars. They spent far more on that than they would have to shell out to help starving children. Profits before people all over again.

The restaurants are still open. A take it you'd prefer that there shut and for more jobs to be lost
I don't think it is a case of profits before people. I think it is a case of Government having absolutely no idea of what to do to recover the economy. Why did they feel the need to give people £50 to service their bike? And some money off an e bike? And a stamp duty holiday which will not bring any much needed tax into the coffers but merely fuel a house price boom which will go bust sooner or later.
Anyway schools reopen next week so all those starving children (the ones a never see (but maybe there to weak to come to my supermarket) will get there free meals again
France & Germany did not do this eat out business, so how do you explain their covid rates.
canary is an anti capitalist its clear, which is fair enough. but hes clutching at straw's here. Allmost every country in Europe has the same problem. Deaths rates in Belgium, Spain , Italy are as bad as here and France is now really struggling. Are lockdowns now look soft compaired with what there having to do. Eatout to helpout in summer wasnt the cause of high corona surges in autumn as whenever a went out there was proper social distancing, but it did help cafe's reopen and save job's which has to be good dos'nt it?
^ I`m not one for links but I did actually hear on the news that the eat out to help out policy helped to fuel the rise in Covid cases.
They’re nowhere near the worst case made by Whitty and Valance a few weeks ago.

I tire really of all these models and predictions. Both pessimistic and optimistic
Starving children...lol
Everynight my bus journey home from the centre of Bristol is full of mums with children eating a McDonalds or crisps and chocolate with bag fulls of Christmas shopping
^ So do I. Boris needs a 'war cabinet' of people around him. From aviation, retail, hospitality, the NHS, the service sector, finance and banking etc so that he can get a broad picture on the situation and can balance the effects of the measures that his Government take over this. Instead he listens to scientists who only care about science and not the human factor.
My post was to Ichkeria.
a dont know how they could possably know but from what I saw the eat out thing was organised well with spacedout tables and table service and got peopel into cafe's outside when weather was okay . Am pretty sure the reopening of pub's with lack of the social distancing and late night gatherings outside and crowding into kebab shop's what I saw was a much bigger factor, plus all the barbeques and house/garden partys . Schools and unis opening were even bigger but a can see there important unlike pubs
dont listen to the media hysteria..way over the top, sells papers
end of the world...next door got the pocks...get a grip.
Although some may say that if more businesses (restaurants etc) failed that there would be more hungry children? Not just the owners f restaurants but the staff associated (cleaners, suppliers of food, brewery staff, etc etc etc)

And of by the way I DONT excuse the gov stance on the school lunches for the disadvantaged kids.... I think their attitude stinks!
Profits before people all over again.
______________

Profits for who?
The strain of Spain comes mainly on the plane.
The figures quoted in the original “worst case scenario” were based on positive tests.
The figures now being quoted appear to be the estimate of actual cases, which we know to be much higher.
Unless I’ve misunderstood
Spreading isn't an issue if hospitals can cope. In fact it's a good thing.

Meanwhile, maybe the answer is a nice cup of T https://youtu.be/awc0bN07Aac
237SJ 19.29 I very much agree with you. The only thing I would add is that Boris should have included Labour at the start in a sort of 'United Covid Cabinet', which would have at least taken the political point-scoring out of it.
