it's not just Carrie, though people will try to demonise her, it's Allegra Stratton as well. They've got it right: his obvious dependence on Cummings makes him look weak. They're doing their job in telling him so: given his Covid record, he stands a good chance of being biffed out by MPs if he doesn't sort himself out pronto.

The problem is with Ms Simmonds. Whereas DC is a contracted employee reporting to the POM who can fire him and so ultimately has responsibility to the public Ms Simmonds does not.
