…because they fear offending 'the woke', says Have I Got News For You producer, Jimmy Mulville.

He said a joke about Abu Hamza's hook hand was once pulled for being 'disablist'

He said he hopes 'we'll wake up' from fear of this 'cancel culture', and added: 'I have views about "the woke". I think it's pathetic'.

I too think it’s pathetic. What say you?

//I don't mind comedians swearing, its that often or not its not done in context more just for the sake of it.//

I watched one of my idols Robin Williams on one youtube clip, it was nothing but swearing, i didn't get it at all.

Freedom of speech is certainly threatened. Nowhere more so than the universities.
They are supposed to open minds, but succeed quite well in closing them.
One sad unforseen consequence of containerisation on the docks, was getting shut of thousands of dockers.
Liverpool dockers were a stomping ground for anybody seeking material for comedy.
No political correctness either.
Call one out for being woke, and you would be getting woke by the ambulance driver!
as in any industry, after all Billy Connolly was a welder i think? and much of his material was from that period of his life.
That's true Emmie.
I worked in industry all my life.
I always found that the harder the work, the worse the conditions, the more profuse the humour. Racist, sexist, anything goes, shocking and shocking, but it produced the humour that kept men going.
Take no prisoners, and the milder bits made it to the wider audience.
Yes, for eight or twelve hours every day, many men forgot that they had mothers, wives, daughters, and became civilised again when they clocked off.
