So should I not help out my family members who are struggling at the moment, (two of them are), but divide what help I can give between them and Oxfam, Red Cross, Water Aid, etcetcetc?
Your post is rather contemptible and one of the best examples of virtue signalling I have seen of late.

Theland - // Oh dear Andy, you perceive a chink in my armour and you are straight in for the kill. //
Armour? In for the kill? This is a debate, not hand to hand combat!!
Get a grip, and lose the 'poor me' martyr position, it doesn't wash with me for a moment.

First of all, don;t put words in my mouth with your 'So ...' response, that won;t wash either.
I am not talking about you not lookng after your family, I am talking about youm resenting your government looking after staving strangers, with you 'our own' attitude.
You are suposed to be the Christian here, and yet you deny starving people some help which only costs you a portion of your income tax which you have already paid, and you resent it being used there because 'we' should look after 'our own' as you so cynically put it?

Based on what you have said, you don't actually understand what the word 'contemptable' means, and as for 'virtue signalling' - you are a professional at that.

Llanfair - // And you take that just to read his own, do you, Theland? Misreading the Bible to suit your views is shameful. //
The point is, we are all Jesus' sheep, and Peter was to feed each and every one of us, not just those fortunate enough to have been born in the UK, which is the ojnly ones Theland wants to look after.
I don't know how he sleeps at night with views like that, and as for coming on here with his depthless piety and pity ...

Theland - // Feel better now?
Moral superiority certificate hanging straight in your study.
Ah well that's O.K. then.
All well in the Hughes household. //
While you are exploring what the word 'contemoptable'actually means, swing by the phrase 'moral superiority' and investigate that as well.
From anyone else, I could accept this as simply a wind-up, but i know that think what you say is valid, and that;s the saddest part about it.

I don’t think it entirely fair to attack Thelsnd so aggressively - or, since this is supposed to be s civilised discussion, at all really. Someone asked for s verse and since I’m posting from a phone I can’t be bothered to mess around looking up precise details, but suffice to say that Jesus once had to be cajoled into helping a foreigner. Just saying.
Back to civilised discussion - hopefully.

Theland - // AH - What remains a mystery to you will remain a mystery to you, but you are comfortable in your skin, and that's the main thing. //
It's not, but never mind.
I am perfectly comfortable in my skin, what mistifies me is how on earth you can be comfortable in yours, with views like you have epressed on this thread.
// (Do you want some praise by the way? It could be arranged). //
Don't patronise me. Either address the points I have made, or don't bother posting, you are fooling no-one with your diversionary nonsense.

I adjust the level of my 'aggression' to suit the person and post I am dealing with.
In this case, after what feels like a lifetime of preaching and condecention from Theland on a daily basis, we see the naked selfishness and avarice that he really posseses, and that is not accecptable after his endless preaching and moralising.
He can, and does, meet any criticisim with more condecension and sarcasm, there are those on here who need defence from accurate cricitism of their views - Theland is absolutely not one of them.
