After months of systematic denigration by our fifth column, "back of the queue", "third world", "inferior" etc etc, it turns out we are the first in the world to approve and roll out the vaccine! Ok tin hat is on.....

yeah good for us
Who cares? The important thing is that a vaccine has been developed. Good for our scientists.
yes its great news.
I think I could be anti british maybe ;)

I think it’s a great thing a vaccine has been found that seems to work, I really don’t know why any body wouldn’t be, wither they be british, German or gibberobian
Just like yesterday, Tora seems to be using a news story ((in this case a good news story) as a means to batter anyone who doesn't share the same opinions as he does. You're getting more like the "Tory Gulliver" each passing day fella.
as long as it works, who cares.
I wholeheartedly agree Emms, all the more reason why there's little need for Tora to start trolling again. Just be happy.
i am mozz.
I know Ems, that last bit was aimed at the OP.
Aye Tora, but what's the jihadi angle? You know you want one.
ok mozz..
I've moved this thread into the "News" category.
"we are the first in the world to approve and roll out the vaccine"

The American/German vaccine (fact masquerading as the anti-British spin, and lets face it Tora could do some good news after yesterday)
We have a world-beating vaccine approval system.

Our vaccine, on the other hand, might be better, and will probably also be approved very soon. As may more .

So good news all round.
Scientists develop vaccines, in this case primarily Germans with USA involvement. Desk operatives, as authorised by politicians, approve vaccines, in the UK they are British operatives. Distribution and administration will be in the hands of health operatives, in the UK almost exclusively within a complex set of government institutions. If anything adverse should subsequently transpire (including delays, cock-ups, etc.), the responsibility for any public effect will for the most part land on the various (British) desks. We all hope the desks will remain clear and look forward to witnessing "the triumph of science".
All we've done is be the first to approve it for use which doesn't seem to be anything to be particularly proud of. There weren't many, if any, British scientists involved in its development.
[email protected], "Our Scientists" ???????,
saved by German chemistry! With some American help, of course. But even if the Oxford vaccine comes third, that's actually pretty good and given the price may be a greater boon to the world.

It's good that it's been approved. I wonder what's holding other countries back? Nothing serious, I'm sure.
quote ickeria

" Our vaccine, on the other hand, might be better, and will probably also be approved very soon. As may more ."

so British scientists have developed one surely this is a good thing
that's what ichkeria said - me too.
was making the point jno that our scientists haven;t been sitting around on their laurels, these are monumental efforts by all concerned, and who is to say there were no British scientists involved in the making of the Pzifer vaccine.
