Approximately 1,000 cases of a new variant of Covid 19 has been identified which is reported to transmit faster than the present one.
Mutation in simple terms and is not known if the vaccine will be effective against it.

OK emmie. I’ll try to surprise Boaty tomorrow!
do that..
Gross over reaction early on

gross under-reaction, douglas. If lockdown had been imposed a week earlier, the toll would have been much lower, maybe only a quarter as bad. (The infection rate seems to have been doubling every four days.)

Also, they did nothing at the airports. Twenty million people were let in without being checked.

Australia shows what happens if you act quickly: 35 deaths per million rather than 943.
how are we going to police those coming in to UK now.
Early or late, jno, the rollercoaster rumbles on, up and down with monotonous regularity and alway returning to the same point.
i blame the pandemic on children, as nj pointed out, me and mrs fender had the same experience and nj pointed out, big groups of them, some with masks a lot without, including primary and secondary school kids.. but the powers that be think its to have parents in work. two children in a primary nr me tested positive, as did the canteen cook in the school..what a palava, who would have thought, never mind close the pubs and restaurants instead.
thousands of people turn out for football matches there, douglas (if that's your scene)

Same for NZ, as the story says. Life down under is back to normal. Meanwhile it's all ending in tiers here. Early or late makes a huge difference.
i bet in the future it will all come out in the wash, that it was children who spread it and that the tests were wholly inaccurate, and that hospitals are not full at all, i hope head roll for it.
the government can only advise what to do, if one chooses to ignore it as some will then you can only hope they are not carriers.
there's allegedly been a downing street briefing this evening, but it wasn't on any mainstream channel - presumably Yokohama Docks Cablevision?

whatever channel, I couldn't find it and I'm willing to bet many other couldn't. have the government given up?
I’ve not been watching it but it’s on the BBC now
as per my link i believe
// it’s on the BBC now //

not sure where you live Ich but it's not showing in the West Midlands.

the Beeb comment was that the vaccines should work on this new variant. The sooner the better, think I'll go and stand outside the local surgery and start the queue!
you are too young Dtc surely, have to wait your turn????
