Approximately 1,000 cases of a new variant of Covid 19 has been identified which is reported to transmit faster than the present one.
Mutation in simple terms and is not known if the vaccine will be effective against it.
A spanner in the works?
gross under-reaction, douglas. If lockdown had been imposed a week earlier, the toll would have been much lower, maybe only a quarter as bad. (The infection rate seems to have been doubling every four days.)
Also, they did nothing at the airports. Twenty million people were let in without being checked.
Australia shows what happens if you act quickly: 35 deaths per million rather than 943.
i blame the pandemic on children, as nj pointed out, me and mrs fender had the same experience and nj pointed out, big groups of them, some with masks a lot without, including primary and secondary school kids.. but the powers that be think its to have parents in work. two children in a primary nr me tested positive, as did the canteen cook in the school..what a palava, who would have thought, never mind close the pubs and restaurants instead.
i bet in the future it will all come out in the wash, that it was children who spread it and that the tests were wholly inaccurate, and that hospitals are not full at all, i hope head roll for it.
the Beeb comment was that the vaccines should work on this new variant. The sooner the better, think I'll go and stand outside the local surgery and start the queue!
