The thing is, the UK wants to ultimately deny small-scale French fishermen access to UK waters that they’ve had for generations. Predating the EEC.
That doesn’t feel right
No it's not right they've been fishing our waters and expecting it to never change. But things do. They can't expect folk to be overly generous when times get harder. But mature folk accept and seek alternative legitimate options.
I suppose it's only to be expected that they're a bit peched off.
//access to UK waters that they’ve had for generations. Predating the EEC.//

Which ones are these? If they exist was it with our permission or a reciprocal agreement?
Look out if they run up the white flag.
Are they not 'helping' us.
they will be breaking the law, royal navy coming.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph Jean-Yves Noel, a 35-year-old French fisherman, said he and his colleagues have plans to blockade UK goods if there is a no deal exit.

\\He commented: “If we can’t fish in their waters, they can’t sell their fish here.//

So they are our fish then.
Fender - The navy is great, but what will they be able to do with just 4 protection vessels. One or more will be out of service at any given time and UK coastal waters go a very long way.

It's very much to be preferred that we do a deal, but keeping in mind that tariff- & quota-free access to the EU is worth a lot more than a lot of hot air about 'our' fish.

Tell that to our fishermen that have lost their jobs ^
There has always been animosity between the French and the English. It’s in our blood. There’s only one way to settle this.........fight......
The advantage is.... if it is their waters.... they are also responsible for any immigrants in them. Not sure which is most expensive.
saying that though, britain has made so many daft laws, it all gets locked up in counter sued this that and the other, perpetrators win over victims and get compensation, no doubt french fishermen will sue britain and win...they always seem to..ie the criminals.
The frogs have the signal already prepared for when the fishymen are to gather.

""A l'eau c'est le hour. Or as we say hello sailor.
"they are also responsible for any immigrants in them"

That highlights the fly in the ointment. The navy is meant to deter illegal immigrants yet Farage has the videos to prove they instead escort them safely to the UK. In the future, when they are supposed to deter illegal foreign fishing boats, will we see the navy showing them the way to our fish stocks and wishing them a good catch ?

Maybe we should delegate security to a third party private company. They might know what's required of them. Is G4S available ?
Yeah! Stick it up 'em!
They don't like it up 'em!
Perhaps a little concession here, French ships under a certain size, no Spanish, no Portuguese they aren't close neighbours. The French voice is one we could do with on our side
Can we sell our fish to EU via Gibraltar?
As I’ve already said, Brexit is going well – what (else) could possibly go wrong?
OK - back to the cod wars with Iceland then. We're friends now and they have offered us a good trade deal on fish. If they want to go to war, then that is their prerogative.
