They are upset about not meeting family at Christmas but there is never a hint of dissent, they always say they agree with it all and they will obey the rules to the letter no matter what. Its not what I hear from people out in the real world.

The lunchtime news featured people saying how upset they are that they won’t be able to see their grandparents over Xmas. Perhaps they should have featured some people who can’t see their grandparents because they died of COVID.

there was a woman on R5 this morning (BBC) telling the presenter why she had to leave London in the st pancras crush because she didn't want to be stuck in her flat for an indeterminate time with her toddler, so there's been at least 1

i have seen friends just a few times now because we can;t meet in each others homes. So stick to the tier 4 rulings, so coffee meant sitting outside as the local cafe has takeaway only.

On the BBC this morning they appeared to report the exact opposite: there was NO danger of food shortages.
But then Sainsbury’s said they might run short.people will be buying less anyway I’d guess.
It’s outbound freight affected by the closure although incomers might wish not to be stranded here.

So long as you do not meet more than one other person, emmie. Mind you, I don't see anything that prevents you from "gathering" with one of your friends for a sip of coffee, then breaking that gathering and going on to gather with another of your friends for another sip.

Vox pop journalism isn't real journalism. We could have opinion polls, but the news seems to feed on getting views from tiny samples of selected people on the street; the only news value is that it might show us what public mood is. But public mood isn't what I consider to be important. Many people believe in ghosts and angels and UFO's and the sanity of Trump and the demoniacal character of Corbyn (take your pick!).

Perhaps it's because people don't like to go on national telly saying that they're ecstatic about avoiding a 'wonderful Christmas with the extended family', and it sounds better to say that they will grudgingly obey the rules for the greater good. Just a thought.
