Ban all non-essential travel. Ban foreign travel. No weddings or funerals. Close more types of shop and business. 2 meters distancing. Shut all schools and places of worship.
Hopefully Douglas and hopefully people are worried enough to act sensibly and follow the rules.
Apc has summed the situation up in one sentence.
Sorry, I meant Danny!
In Scotland rules have escalated to law.
apc. No problem:-)
Sqad, unfortunately I have serious doubts!
Staple masks to the idiots round my way who think spoiling your make up is adequate t o justify exemption.
Rowan, I wear little makeup, but do wear a touch of lippy if I have to go out. Laughed at myself when I applied lippy then put a mask on for the first time.
Perhaps the wearing of a badge or some other indicator to identify trained and official mask enforcement personnel rather than rely on ill-conceived and somewhat sadistic solutions from people on the internet could help in the overall scheme.
got some of that, douglas, but still they won't listen to me

I neither know nor care what they do as long, as they don’t close the dentists down. I don’t do anything now, except do a weekly shop at the local supermarket at a quiet time and go for the occasional walk. I don’t meet anyone inside or outside, except to maybe chat briefly, at a distance, when passing on my walk. What can they do?
It’ll be school closures (sigh)
And a lot more fuming from the self righteous
Again, it's all coming far too late. If Johnson is announcing nationwide school closures, he should have done so a couple of weeks ago at least. He also still owes an apology to those schools who tried to be proactive, for threatening legal action (via Williamson, who should have been sacked five times by now). If it's a more general stay-at-home order, then that, too, should have been announced weeks ago -- and will be longer than it could have been, precisely because of the refusal to take the necessary action in October and then in December.

No Government would wish to be responsible for making such orders, and in that sense at least I can understand the hesitation. But it's the same hesitation, over and over. It's the same mistake, over and over. The refusal to do any more than the bare minimum has merely dragged this pain out.

It's a catastrophic failure. Johnson and the Government owe us all a thousand apologies.

Totally agree.
Jim // Johnson and the Government owe us all a thousand apologies.//
Don't you think that the Sage team should take some of the blame? It's their advice that Johnson has followed for most of the time.
whatever they have tried doesn't seem to have worked so far, so more schools shut possibly, for how long one wonders, - how do parents who work cope with that knowing that it could be months.
I agree with Jim but in addition, the public owes an apology.
Instead of how can I support the restrictions imposed by the Government, many have said and on AB ,how can I circumvent the directions of the Government.
have they - most on here seem to agree that more lockdown should be in place.
