Not something I would do but seriously, where is the harm.

Sat by themselves in a car.

These heavy handed fines is a ploy to get back the ridiculous amount wasted on eat out to help out.
The fines are a drop in the ocean not a big money spinner and are probly difficult to process especially when not paid
i heard it on the tv in the advert breaks ..think it was whitty when he gives the stay at home / wear a mask speech/ protect NHS speech
perhaps i misunderstood ...possibly he means 1 in 3 with it have no symptoms and could be passing it on unknowingly...
Yes, he means that for every 3 people who have covid only 2 have symptoms.
But your right that the estimates have risen to 20% even tho the official T&T figure is under 5%. If a get chance will look into this, there was a study of a group a something like 100000 people doing regular virus and antibody tests on . Will dig something out
No way do I agree with what these pair have done, at worst they could have been involved in an accident and needed hospital treatment. But then on the other hand you have football teams, and all their spare parts, trainers, medical teams, reserves, all being allowed to travel long distances to matches? Then if you think back to the beginning of this pandemic when people were (advised) not to travel, or go away on holiday, lots of folk ignored that advise??
Why pick on football teams? Lots of people are travelling all over the place as part of their jobs. Rather than just deciding to go for a meal somewhere :-)
We are not all equal in this as I’ve said before. But it’s inevitable. And not necessarily wrong.
There's nothing at all wrong in travelling by car. I've had an email this morning from the US by a friend who has just driven "1,760 miles" from Santa Fe to Houston & back without being in close contact with anyone but the person he had to see there. You can get petrol from pumps by card & take your own food.

If everyone could be trusted to behave sensibly there would be no problem.
But they can’t of course.
As I’ve said before, close-up the rules make debatable sense. You have to take a general view. If there was no duke about travelling, regardless of the risks, more people generally worked do it.
It’s possible to break the rules and be safe if you’re sensible but you can’t legislate for that sensibly.
No “rule”

We are being instructed to stay at home and not make non-essential journeys. Yes, I know that buying food is a permissible journey but driving that far for a takeaway Sunday lunch is taking the whatsit.
I can quite see why people want to get in their car and keep going!
I want to :)
As expected the trouble in Holland was not mentioned on the BBC lunchtime news.
Yes a long drive to say Scottish lakes would be nice but its against the rules even tho in theory we might meet noone. But rules after be simple,we cant unfortunately say just do whats sensible because it could lead to all sorts as some are selfish and noone could be charged. Stay at home except for leaving for essentials
Top Footballers is not a good example teacake as there tested twice a week and dont mix with mortals like us. They dont go down the market or to aldi or wilkos or catch the busy number 23 bus
@15.50 Why are footballers not a good example. They mix and shop like the rest of us, and we are not just talking of top footballers are we? If one of their coaches crashed on the way to a match, your talking a lot of injuries. And many see football as unnecessary, what they see is footballers enjoying their game with no restrictions unlike other peoples restrictions on what they want to do, plus theirs many footballers who have tested positive regardless of the testing twice a week as you say. Smaller clubs can't afford such expensive private testing can they?
You dislike football and that colours your view. We love it and it keeps us cheerful in difficult times. Same with cricket.
Yes there tested twice a week and forced to isolate if positive. Then they comply unlike some of public. Also picks up asymptomatic. Has to be welcomed
Dislike football? No, I dislike it controlling common sense, I dislike it being rammed down my neck on the news when we have more important things, I dislike it rolling across the bottom of the screen, after the death rate has rolled across the screen.
Bobbs, there's been no end of footballers breaking the rules, and getting away with it.
