There have been a disproportionate number of deaths among ultra-Orthodox Jews during the pandemic.
(though it does add other explanations).

When I commented on the wedding that was discovered last week in Stamford Hill I would have bet a pound to a pinch of salt that they were taking place elsewhere. The Council say it is down to the police (though the council could easily take action if it wanted to as there are licencing implications). The police don't want to know. It might become "sensitive" and in any case it's far easier to hassle two ladies going for a socially distanced walk round a reservoir.
Meanwhile a further 29,000 infections were recorded today and I still can't go and sit in a quiet corner of my favourite restaurant with Mrs NJ. It's about time publicans and restauranteurs treated the law with the same contempt as these people and simply opened up their doors.

The "restrictions" imposed by the Jewish religion are among the most ridiculous I know (among many). The daftest of all is the "eruv". This is an rea, usually denoted by a surrounding thin wire, where Sabbath restrictions do not apply.

Still, all credit to their ingenuity.

I have seen no news that the organisers of the wedding at the school in Stamford Hill have been identified and fined £10,000. 5 people out of 150-400 were fined £200.
Presumably the happy couple had a guest list and had someone organising/planning the happy day. But they have got away with it relatively Scott free. No deterrent at all.
The Shomrim and Community Security Trust are supposed to be the eyes and ears for the Police in Jewish areas. They are completely failing to perform their role in the Covid crisis. It looks like they are turning a blind eye, and letting the lockdown breaking happen.
