Table service only in pubs and restaurants worked very well last time and there was no evidence of excessive transmission of the virus. Is it because that having fun is now frowned upon and that we now are only allowed to exist?
I'm afraid, Dave, that "all bets are off". The only thing that matters is Covid. Anything else you might suffer from or die of - cancer, heart disease, depression, mental illness or simple boredom - is merely collateral damage that must be endured.
Bonkers idea I know, but why can’t they deliver the meals on trolley to the table, let the customer pick their own meal up, then wheel trolley away and wipe down?? Am sure there’s a massive flaw in my idea lol
// However, Paul Hunter, Professor in Medicine, UEA, expressed some reservations about the study’s methodology. He warned that “any estimate of the size of the impact of eat out to help out on case numbers should be treated with some caution”. //
The study found a 8 to 17% increase in people who had visited a pub/restaurant. But that was in line with the general trend throughout the country in all sectors.
//// was no evidence of excessive transmission of the virus. ////
dave , the transmission doesn't have to be excessive, it just has to be transmissible.......which it is.
Mode of transmission is by air and touch, wherever people congregate increases the chance of infection, hospitalisation and death.
Sorry about your fun.
smow in our local where meals had to be substantial they did bring it to your table, though at one point in plastic containers, with plastic cutlery, after i complained they managed a proper plate and knife and fork.. Not sure when they are likely to open again, but feel it will be a long while yet.
true, our local, the one i use mostly is attached to a hotel, already struggles with getting customers through the door, except in the summer time, when it tends to get busier. who know what happens this year.
Let's face it, if they were to be allowed to open any time soon, there'll be loads of people losing their mind and calling the pub-goers 'Covidiots' and accusing them of being granny-killers.
I can think of half a dozen people on this site without even trying too hard.
Cos unvaccinated groups from different households would sit together which is how it spread's.
Hopefully by May they'll reopen with table service only , maybe outdoors only with limits of 4 per table and drinks only with meals for now
