Princess Alice of Gloucester and the Queen Mother were not born royal. The longest living person to be born royal was Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, the daughter of Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, the youngest son of Queen Victoria. She died in 1981, two months short of her 98th birthday. She was the last surviving grandchild of Queen Victoria.
I wish him well. He has been in and out of hospital for a while, so I hope he comes out this time as well. A 100th birthday is something to look forward to when you are 99!
I think we all realise that neither Prince Philip or the Queen can go on for ever. Perhaps we lose them both in the next few years.
