Genuine question for the OP and anyone who agrees: why do you hope they relinquish the Sussex title? Isn't it Harry's birthright? Surely the title doesn't make much difference to their opportunities in the States, so he's hardlt exploiting the title.

No it isn't. The Sussex Dukedom was created for him by The Queen on the occasion of his marriage in 2018. It had been extinct since the death of the previous incumbent in 1843.
It is traditional that sons of the heir to the throne are bestowed with Dukedoms. However, it's difficult to see where it becomes a right.

Ironic really that those complaining and trying to silence the critics are far more vitriolic than the critics themselves. Downright spiteful in some instances. I don’t know if that’s a result of motes and eyes or whether their sense of moral superiority really has overridden any sense of rationality they may once have possessed. Funny old world.
What we should remember is that there is the relationship between Harry and his grandmother, which by all accounts has always been close, and their respective publicity machines, who probably don;t like each other very much.
I think the way the Duke and Duchess's response was worded was clunky, and easily open to misinterpretation, but I would not be surprised if a quick phone call between the two has smoothed out any misunderstanding.
Being at the mercy of a gigantic machine that runs his life, and what he can and cannot say is the biggest reason why Harry wants to walk away from the Royal Family - and it's not hard to agree with his position.

They sort of remind me of the Harry Enfield and Chums character Waynetta slob, Naomi. She hilariously declared that if she was having another baby she wanted a brown one because all the other mothers on the estate had one. Haha the poor luvs were sooo looking forward to a brown Royal ... and an American one at that.

Quite so, Andy. But.....
He should have made his views known to his father and grandmother and discussed it with them privately. They in turn could then have made it quite clear he would not be permitted to return for the odd spot of pomp and pageantry as and when he fancied it and when his new schedule permitted. All this should have been done before announcements were made on Twitter or whatever unsuitable vehicles were used this time last year and his decision could have been managed in a far better way.

Really, Mozz? Perhaps you’re reading selectively again and have missed “Les tricoteuses still abound … If you listen carefully you can hear the needles clicking” and “Jealousy”, not forgetting the chap who reads between the lines and sees what isn’t written - and from yourself, “if they were to split up, the sound of smug "I told you so’s would be deafening. I think many would revel in it.” All utterly charming.
Oddly enough at the prospect of giving us all the benefit of the hypocrisy of their 'woke' waffle as plain old Mr & Mrs, 'Just call me Harry' and his wife seem eager to cling to that which benefits them in the big, wide, real world.

You mean critics like these ...
> The Duck and Duckess of Suckits
> Haha the poor luvs were sooo looking forward to a brown Royal ... and an American one at that.
I for one don't want to silence the critics. I believe the more opportunity they have to show themselves for what they are, the better. It's like a form of self harm.

Well, I can't talk for Togo (I rarely see him post anything that isn't having a dig at anyone who disagree with him), but I stand by my comments as being observations, and ones I stand by. I can't see many of the people being too sympathetic if they divorced. I think there would be far more saying "Good riddance" than there would be offering concern.
On the other topic, I can't see how the title benefits them in any way. Harry will have doors open for him by just being Harry, it goes with the territory. His title isn't going to make much difference to that.

Ellipsis. //You mean critics like these ...//
No I don’t mean critics like those. You’ve got the wrong end of the stick. I don’t agree with what they said - not at all - but this is a question of criticism and often vitriol aimed at those holding opposing opinions in an effort to silence. Calling people ‘les tricoteuses’ and that sort of thing. I trust that’s clearer for you now.
